Job Description

We are excited to be recruiting for two Project Managers to deliver our national sustainability engagement projects, programmes and campaigns.

INTRODUCING SOS-UK

SOS-UK is a student-led education charity focusing on sustainability
. We know environmental sustainability cannot be achieved in isolation, so our work spans across issues of justice and wellbeing as well.

We believe in lifelong learning and work on sustainability across all forms of education from early years to workplace learning. We act as a support crew - facilitating, encouraging and mentoring people wherever they are on their sustainability journey in sustainability.

We see the power and potential in students and young people to be at the forefront of change. We work alongside them as equal partners in their sustainability leadership journeys.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are recruiting two new Project Managers (PMs) to join our existing team of 10 PMs. The two new PMs will focus primarily on our sustainability engagement projects, with one focusing largely on staff engagement through our Green Impact programme and the other focusing on student engagement through our Student Switch Off (Student Engagement in Residences) programme.

You will work alongside the relevant Senior Project Manager for that programme to act as the lead point of contact and deliver mainly Green Impact or Student Switch Off at specified institutions and community organisations to a high standard, ensuring individuals and organisations benefit from participation.

The specific programmes, projects, and campaigns you will work on varies from year to year depending on geographical location and externally funded projects, and will change as our projects, programmes and campaigns evolve.

For the student engagement focused role we are looking for someone excited to deliver in-person, on-site engagement activities, including hosting stalls and running engaging training sessions. You should be confident in talking to people, able to enthuse others about sustainability and climate justice, and keen to support students who are early on in their sustainability journey.

For the staff engagement focused role we are looking for someone who is a highly organised project manager, able to communicate clearly and effectively with lead contacts, and run engaging training and workshops both in-person and online.

Both roles use supportive templates and established models for engagement to shape and guide your delivery of the programme at your assigned institutions or organisations. Both require you to nurture and maintain effective professional relationships, communicate effectively and collaborate with colleagues, and work efficiently and independently to a high standard.

DIVERSITY AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

We’re totally committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation.

We recognise that candidates from Black, Asian and Minoritised-Ethnic backgrounds are under-represented in our organisation, and that there are often additional barriers present for people from these groups when applying for roles in the charity sector and beyond. We are committed to taking positive action to expand the diversity of our staff team, and if you meet the minimum criteria for a role (at least 80% of the criteria in the person specification) and are from a BAME background, you'll be guaranteed an interview. It is important to note that this scheme guarantees an interview for candidates who meet the minimum criteria and tell us that they'd like to be considered under the scheme. The selection decision at interview will be based on the most suitable candidate, regardless of any protected characteristic.

Find out more about what it’s like working for SOS-UK. If you would like to speak to a member of SOS-UK staff not involved in the interview process about how your experience might meet the requirements of the role, please get in touch.

On our job applications, we do not ask as standard whether applicants have any spent or unspent convictions (under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974). Applicants will still be requested to complete a DBS check if the role requires one.

Please apply via our online application form, we are unable to accept CVs. If you are unable to complete or application due to accessibility needs, please contact recruitment@nus.org.uk.

Please state on your application where you are likely to be located.
