The role
This full-time post is available immediately on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home, with the expectations of at least 2 days per week in the office.
We are looking for a Junior Systems Developer to join our Enterprise Device Management team in Exeter IT. This is your opportunity to work with a combination of industry standard tools and modern Cloud based platforms to assist the University in delivering successful digital solutions and moving towards the modern desktop experience.
The role holder will work on a range of project-based deliverables, supporting and developing solutions in line with information and document management best practices. Working closely with stakeholders, the role holder will translate business processes into device management solutions; assisting the University on its transition to a more automated, digital working environment. Using Microsoft SCCM, InTune, Azure, JAMF and other technologies. Duties will include:
- Providing IT development, support and advice to customers of the University's devices
- Leading on implementing a broad variety of complex technical, operational and problem solving activities for IT applications and services, and providing professional advice about your area of expertise to academic and professional services staff.
- Delivering both large and small IT changes, including the development, deployment and testing of new applications, platforms and digital services that are in sync with the Strategy & Architecture standards and principles.
- Participating in, and being responsible for, the accurate and timely delivery of your contribution to small and medium sized projects, supervising junior colleagues where appropriate. Actively participating in University projects and working groups.
- Providing advice and guidance for others on specific tasks, issues or activities; and delivering in house training where appropriate.
- Mentoring and developing more junior colleagues with the view of building a high level of service to our variety of customers across the University
You will:
- Have advanced experience in managing and configuring devices and operating system environments.
- Have excellent application packaging skills. PowerShell skills would be advantageous
- Have an understanding of working with business workflows.
- Have an understanding of best practice principles within IT development, testing and Information Governance.
- Be passionate about new IT and digital technologies with a particular interest in Microsoft InTune and Azure.
- Be keen to continually develop and learn new skills as required by the role
- Be flexible, adaptive, and proactive in your approach to seek continuous improvement of our services and technologies.
- Have strong communication skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships.
