We are actively seeking an inspirational 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work within our partnership academy schools and alternative provisions based in Lincolnshire. The position will provide general cover on a day-to-day and long-term basis to meet the needs of the school and there is potential for a permanent role for the right candidate.
The ideal candidate will have experience of supporting pupils with complex learning, physical, medical and behavioural needs in alternate provision and academy schools. As a valued member of the staff team, you will provide support for children with a variety of SEN needs including ASD and SEMH. There may be a requirement for personal care when working on a 1:1 basis to support pupils with additional needs. You must be committed to high standards, actively promoting a safe, secure and happy learning environment that encourages pupils to succeed in often challenging circumstance.
The provision places young children and their families at the heart of learning, empowering students to thrive and progress in all areas, through the implementation of a child centred educational experience. The friendly staff team provide engaging activities, adapted resources and a warm and welcoming atmosphere that caters to the individual needs other the children within the setting. Supporting them to become confident, happy and independent individuals with a strong focus on preparation for the future and participation within society.
We are looking for someone who is predominantly experienced in working with children/a dults with physical disabilities, but applications are welcome from applicants with a range of SEND experience. We work with several schools and alternative provisions who provide education for pupils with a range of needs.
You can expect to earn up to £100 per day, depending on the requirements of the role.
Requirements:
- Provide calming and nurturing support for some of the most vulnerable students with EHCP's in place
- Instil good behaviour management strategy in line with the setting policy
- Support the delivery of lessons to engage and enthuse learners
- Be a positive role model for the children, through commitment to the setting expectations
- Encourage the talents and abilities of all students to achieve academically
- Display an enthusiasm to learn and develop professionally
- Show an interest in the children that you are working with, to build mutually respectful relationships
- Work effectively as part of a friendly staff team to support the children in your care
- Be resilient, not easily offended and able to de-escalate sometimes challenging situation.
Skills and attributes:
- Ability to relate well to pupils and young adults with additional needs
- Experience of working within a similar setting (care homes, hospitals etc) would be advantageous
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Team Teach or MAPA qualification desirable
- Experience of working with physical disabilities, PMLD, ASD or SEMH (advantageous, but not essential)
- A proactive team member, committed to raising standards and achievement
- Able to manage and action a variety of issues relating to the well-being and safeguarding of children
- A valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one
