Job Description
We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our Ambulatory Care/Elderly Care Assessment Team at Hexham General Hospital.
You will be joining a Team who are committed to providing high quality care within a friendly professional, safe and supported environment.
The Ambulatory Care - Elderly Care Assessment
The service operates Monday - Friday, excluding bank holidays, 08:00 -16:00.
There will also be an opportunity to rotate onto the Urgent Care Centre with Hexham General Hospital.
- To exercise accountability as set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC The Code.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust.
- To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to delivery high quality nursing care.
- To confidently carry out venepuncture and cannulation. With additional training, if required, carry out Venesection.
- To confidently administer medications for infusion, intravenous fluids, and Blood Transfusion, adhering to Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
- To assist the Nurse Practitioner in the delivery of Deep Vein Thrombosis, Cellulitis, and Atrial Fibrillation Pathways.
- To provide nursing care to patients admitted to the Unit, assisting the Medical Doctor when required, and participate in Ward handovers.
- Act as a mentor and positive role model to pre-registration and post registration nursing students, and to support education, training and supervision of junior staff members.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. - To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care, working as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
- To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code. To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
