We are looking for an innovative Consultant Haematologist to join our exceptional Bolton NHS Foundation Trust team.
Close to the West Pennine Moors, Bolton is 10 miles north-west of Manchester and lies between Manchester, Darwen, Blackburn, Chorley, Bury and Salford. As well as a thriving town centre, with excellent educational and cultural services, Bolton is surrounded by several neighbouring towns and villages, with close networking travel links to central Manchester, Liverpool, the coast and the Lake District.

You will join a medical team of 3 experienced haematologists, a Specialist Doctor and a Physicians’ Associate. We work alongside a close knit nursing team comprising of a trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner, Unit Manager / Lead Cancer Nurse Specialist, 2 Cancer Nurse Specialists, 2 staff nurses and 2 HCAs.
The fundamental role is to provide a safe, effective and comprehensive clinical service to our patients.
The post holder should have a broad training in clinical and laboratory haematology.
The department provides a clinical and laboratory service, managing a full range of haematological conditions to BCSH level 2a.
Clinical haematology in-patient beds are within our complex care bed base and carry out daily ward rounds.
As a Consultant, you will have 3 clinics a week including an MDT clinic. You will also participate and attend a sector-wide MDT.
The medical team support the laboratory department and undertake various education elements of the role.
There is opportunity to take lead roles in various elements of the service.

The post holder must hold full and specialist registration with a licence to practise with General Medical Council. Additionally, they should be holder of Certificate of Completion of Training or be within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by the date of interview. Development of an area of special interest will be encouraged and the post holder will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, providing advice and clinical help across hospital and community. The successful candidate is expected to undertake clinics at Royal Bolton Hospital.
