It is currently one of the largest construction sites in Europe. The Project Manager leads a small team of Technical Specialists that form part of the Regulated Industry Department in Wessex. The team ensure the delivery of permits and planning permissions efficiently and effectively to ensure delivery in line with the developers challenging schedule and timetable.

The Project Manager will also be expected to interact with a wide range of departments internally including National Permitting Service (NPS), Nuclear Regulation Group (NRG) and Nuclear New Build (NNB) Programme team as well as other organisations such as Natural England to enable a single Defra voice when responding to requests from the developer.

This role acts as the EA representative at regular stakeholder engagement meetings with a number of community partners and organisations as well as regular contact with EDF, the company who are constructing the power station.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. The team
The team sits within the Regulated Industry department, where you will be part of the leadership team. We regulate a range of activities that affect the environment, people, and the economy - from large industries to small companies and individuals, to create a better place for people and wildlife through regulation and influence. You’ll bring passion to the role to inspire those you work with and those we seek to influence in the wider community.
Experience/skills required
You will be expected to oversee all aspects of project delivery and therefore it is essential you manage your own time, set priorities and deadlines to make timely decisions.
It’s desirable that you are competent in managing others, not just your direct team reports, but also helping influence the work and priorities of others to ensure the project is delivered to the developer's tight timescales.

You should be an effective communicator, converse with presenting complex information clearly and succinctly. You should be solution focussed and able to communicate effectively with the wider project team to explain complex information.
The ability to negotiate and influence is key, trying to balance the developers priorities with the EA demands.

We’re looking for candidates with enthusiasm and the right skills to succeed in the role. It’s not necessary to have experience of working in the Environment Agency. Training and support will be provided.
