UX Design Lead, this role would suit someone who has experience of Leading and motivating others with effective interpersonal communication.
Purpose of the role:
The role is to lead the development, improvement and delivery of User Experience design across the SSS Public Safety Software Development function. This will include leading and coaching a small team of UX Designers, delivering a strategic suite of patterns and standards for UX across the SSS Public Safety portfolio as well as taking hands-on responsibility for the delivery of product UX designs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with development teams, product managers and business analysts to deliver UX solutions, plan capacity and inform roadmap timelines
- Lead your team’s execution of projects, and structure the suite of artefacts that need to be produced for each project. This can include UX information architecture, creating wireframes, wireflows and prototyping, depending on the needs of the project.
- Develop a suite of reusable standards, patterns and artefacts that establish a forward looking and fresh unified look and feel to the SSS Public Safety product portfolio
- Contribute to the selection of appropriate front-end web application toolkit(s) aligned to the UX design standards
- Contributing insight and experience to strategic and transformational workstream
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience working in major organisations or agencies with a strong UX focus
- Participating in co-creation or facilitation workshops
- Experience of working within a UX design framework
- Experience of working closely with technical teams to enable designs to be realised effectively and efficiently
- Strong understanding of front-end web application development frameworks / toolkits and how these relate to UX designs
- Working on desktop apps, mobile apps and dynamic websites
- Experience creating medium to high fidelity wireframes and prototypes
- Experience developing and maintaining high quality patterns and standards
Technical Skills
- Working with, or creating design systems and design pattern libraries
- An in-depth understanding of user centred design principles
- A basic understanding of agile working practices like Kanban and ScrumWorking
- Knowledge of using Figma to produce designs
- Working knowledge of using Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop to produce designs Storyboards, User Flow Diagrams, Wireframing, Wireflow
