About The Job
Salary: £28,371 - £31,099 per annum
Working Pattern: Full time - 37 hours per week
Location: County Hall, Chichester

As a Programme Support Officer, you will be part of the Business Assurance Team and act as a key member of the Public Health Directorate. You will be dealing with a complex range of issues in a fast-paced environment. Therefore, you will be required to work quickly, accurately and proactively to deliver high quality project management support to Consultants in Public Health and managers across a variety of topics.
As the post holder, you will be expected to use your initiative in ensuring matters are dealt with efficiently and appropriately. You will also need to be capable in prioritising your workload. At times you may be dealing with highly sensitive matters and confidentiality will be essential.
You will provide support to the wider Public Health Directorate, working across teams on a range of key public health projects, programmes and topic areas. This could include business planning, communications, the West Sussex Wellbeing Programme, and flu campaigns.
Experience and Skills
Key Skills:
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret and manipulate varied and complex project information in relation to services required by the client.
- Ability to organise, plan and meet set targets and deadlines, for example, the provision of urgent project reports required by client.
- Developed communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a range of high - level clients/stakeholders and create and maintain effective working relationship and provide coaching to clients/colleagues on process or documentation.
- Strong problem - solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions.
- Advanced IT skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, use of Internet and other web-based applications, for the integral use of word processing, analysis and research of data, creating electronic presentations.
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills to understand and to carry out financial analysis and reporting.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- HNC/HND in an appropriate area or equivalent practical experience/range of knowledge.
- Knowledge of project management and planning processes, and demonstrable experience of working as a competent member of a project team in a rapidly changing environment, ideally in a project support role or equivalent, planning more than one project or project work stream concurrently.
