LifeArc have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Scientist to lead a team of scientists supporting our Translational Therapeutic Platform group. You will have expertise in biologics drug discovery processes with a focus on upstream and downstream processes of antigens and biologics production and expertise with biophysical characterisation to identify the optimal pre-clinical candidates for further development.
The role involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and interacting with colleagues across multiple functions and platform groups. There is also the scope to lead the scientific rationale of one or more projects or lead across multiple projects in a specialised scientific field or platform development.
About you:
Education & experience required:
A track record of leading teams (up to 5-10 people) as an experienced line manager
Significant experience of working on projects related to biologics drug discovery and/or development.
Experience coaching and mentoring others.
Experience in technical leadership of multidisciplinary projects through to delivery
Theoretical and practical scientific knowledge and expertise/experience typical of a Masters Degree or PhD or substantial practical work experience in a relevant discipline.
A track record of leading projects or large components of projects that demonstrate ability to deliver according to project plans and the creation of novel solutions to complex problems.
Substantial depth of the drug parameters that matter for successful drug development.
Expertise in Protein Sciences including Developability assessment of monoclonal antibodies and other modalities.
Structural Biology and Molecular Modelling experience
In-depth knowledge and understanding of protein expression systems and relevant purification strategies.
Experience of other biologic modalities including generation of bi-specifics, domain antibodies and antibody-based fusion proteins would be advantageous.
A track record of scientific achievement within a drug discovery environment ideally across different modalities
Experience of delivering pre-clinical candidates and the data packages to enable partnering would be desirable.
Comfortable with ambiguity and resilience in the face of unfavourable outcomes.
