ITV Apprentice-Production Runner (Potato)


Department- Potato

Office location- ITV White City London

Working pattern - Hybrid

Duration: 18 months (This is a full time role from Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week with 1 day a week attending Barking and Dagenham college)

Contract - Fixed Term Contract

Qualification: Level 3 Production Assistant (Screen and Audio)

Hiring range: London salary is £23,379

The team


Renowned non-scripted producer Potato was founded by managing director Michael Kelpie in 2013 and brings together a group of highly experienced directors and producers. With a track record of producing a diverse variety of award-winning programmes, Potato has an impressive slate of engaging, entertaining and ratings-winning formats across multiple genres and broadcasters. Productions include The Chase (ITV), The Big Reunion (ITV2), Four Weddings (Sky Living), Autopsy: The Final Hours Of (Five & Reelz Channel US), Family Diaries (ITVBe), Ferne McCann, First Time Mum (ITVBe), Ninja Warrior UK (ITV), Ant Middleton: Straight Talking (Sky One) and Bear Grylls Survival School (CITV).


The role


  • Learn how new programmes are created from an idea into a production and thinking on your feet.
  • Research skills: casting, working with talent, people skills, communication skills, data protection processes, risk assessment, compliance rules
  • Learn how established programmes run efficiently and your role in keeping the machine running tightly.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)


  • A passion for production and demonstrable knowledge of different genres.
  • Any experience of customer service
  • Scoring at least 9/10 through the multiple choice application questions
  • Descriptive and an originality portrayed within the set application questions

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)


  • A clear understanding & passion for the apprenticeship role you are applying for as well as ITV
  • Have a willingness to learn new skills with the appropriate training
  • Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Good understanding of how to use technology in an office environment for example use of the Google suite, zoom
  • You will be friendly and approachable, respectful to all of your ITV colleagues
  • You’ll have the ability to maintain a positive attitude, even when under pressure and working to deadlines

Eligibility/Entry Criteria


As this is a Level 3 Apprenticeship, we require you to have/be predicted to achieve the below qualifications


GCSE Grades (or equivalent) C/4 or above in English and Maths plus 2 other subjects


There is no upper age limit to an Apprenticeship, we would encourage applications from anyone leaving school, all the way to looking for a career change. Please see below to check you meet the eligibility criteria:


Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would only suit applicants over 18.


  • You have lived within the UK/EEA for a minimum of 3 years consecutively
  • You meet the entry criteria for the apprenticeship as listed above
  • You have not completed a degree/same level qualification in a similar subject to the role you are applying for
  • You cannot have achieved the qualification already and you must not already be in full time education at the point of enrolment
