It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.Summary of responsibilitiesAs a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of Registered Nurse (RN) at CCH is to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered, ethical, and evidenced-based nursing care. The overall function of the RN is to assist our patients and community to manage clinical conditions and transitions and maximize their self-care abilities. The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team.Requirements of the jobHolds current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of OntarioValid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationCurrent certification in ACLSDemonstrated regular, punctual attendanceDemonstrated commitment to patient safetySuccessful completion of Critical Care internal training or College based ProgramTwo (2) years or more recent (within the last 3 years) experience working in Critical Care (preferably at a level III ICU)Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English; oral in French - and testing completed)Asset/PreferredNon-Violent Crisis Intervention (full training)Advanced clinical competencies as related to the patient population served by the Critical Care settingCompleted post RN critical care coursesKey skills or competenciesSuperior interpersonal organizational and communication skillsAbility to work within an interdisciplinary team.Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to changeExcellent patient assessment, critical thinking, communication (oral and written), and problem solving skillsDedication to maintaining and advancing knowledge base in the Critical Care setting and sharing this knowledge with peersAbility to use proficiently use the EHR as the means of chartingAbility to develop, implement, evaluate and adapt a therapeutic nursing plan (Care plan)Completes established curricula as required at the unit levelCornwall Community Hospital
