We are always on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.The Opportunity:As a Roll Technician, you will be responsible to run the reel room of a large double wide ManRoland Colorman press, including the following duties:Health & SafetyKnow what to do in case of emergencyFollow H&S rules, regulations and equipment safety guidelinesLock out Tag out/ Confined Space policy, etc.Know how to use emergency stop buttonsIdentify safety hazards and inform shift manager on dutyParticipate in any and all training provided by the CompanyEnvironmental ResponsibilitiesRecycle in appropriate containersAll cardboard/boxesAll paperAll expired coresTeamworkInitiate support to other members of the crew when assistance is needed in order to meet production requirements (ex. other Press lines, Reel Stands, Gammerler, maintenance, housekeeping, tow motor etc.)Share best practices with other Press crewsAssist in preparing for following productionsReferencesFollow all job functions as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures Binder (SOP’s) for all job functionsFollow all necessary steps to ensure accurate roll tracking through Aurosys and document any deviations from automatic onto appropriate recording forms.Read, understand, and follow all equipment manuals for current and new equipment installations.Accurately document maintenance white board and note and record any deficiencies on board.Job PreparationFollow the Job production in Aurosys, prior to running stands.Notify Tow Motor Operators of required paperEnsure production information is accurate within Aurosys and make adjustments accordinglyInform shift manager or press crew of an equipment or production issue that may require a change in moving a production or maintenanceCheck robots and reel stands, ensure all sensors and eyes are cleaned prior to loading rollsInspect the rolls for damages and ensure pasters are within the correct parameters.Properly kite the rolls and advise Press Technicians accordinglyEnsure use of proper rolls for production (i.e. butt roll usage)Operation/TroubleshootingMaintain paper flow to the pressCommunicate with Press Tech as to condition of running rolls (i.e. notifying of creasing, etc.)Adjust cocking roller for creasing, as requiredRecord comment(s) and notes in Reel room log books during production run and initiate work orders for repair or trend analysisEnsure good quality rolls and pasters to allow press to run at the appropriate speed and waste efficienciesReport any run issues related to quality, production or equipment issuesInform maintenance and/or PSM immediately of a breakdown that requires attention in order to meet production deadlinesAt end of Production RunRecord necessary information in Reel room logbook at the end of each production run (even if no problems were encountered)Cut out webs upon job completionPlace damaged and partial rolls into repatriation with proper documentation affixedMaintenance/HousekeepingEnsure daily maintenance is performed on all equipmentPerform preventative maintenance as per schedule or as requiredReport equipment problems and breakdowns to maintenance personnel during the shift as well as to the shift manager on dutyQualifications:3 years previous experience preparing rolls and operating reel stands on a double wide printing press.Knowledge of customer requirementsKnowledge of Health and Safety regulations according to M.O.L. requirementsCommunication skillsTime Management skillsAttention to DetailOrganizational skillsAble to work in a deadline driven work environmentSafety orientedKnowledge of Reel stands, AurosysQuality conscious with a keen eye for non-conforming consumablesTow Motor/Clamp Truck and Walkie Rider LicenseKnowledge of Windows operating systemsThe successful candidate must be able to work shifts in a 24 hour / 7 day a week environment.We thank in advance all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates under consideration will be contacted.
