Department: Student and Scholarly Services; Chief Operating Officer PortfolioSalary:Academic A.2 - $57.33 p.h. or A.6 (PhD) - $68.57 p.h. plus 11.5% superLead study sessions and provide academic support to students in Little Hall's academic program.Foster academic success and global awareness through tailored study sessions.Brilliant benefits and a flexible hybrid work environment!About the RoleThe Study Group Leaders at Little Hall play a crucial role in fostering curiosity and individual thinking by leading weekly General Area study sessions. They provide academic support to students across various disciplines, ensuring they are fully empowered to excel in their degrees while engaging with broader societal issues. Sessions are held in the early evening to accommodate students' daytime commitments. Little Hall is seeking Study Group Leaders in all subject areas but are particularly seeking candidates to lead study sessions in:PsychologyFinance and EconomicsAccountingDesign and ArchitectureYour responsibilities will include:Lead regular weekly General Area Study Sessions (3 hours). This includes encouraging good study habits, answering student's questions, and assisting with skills associated with your particular study area (e.g. essay writing, referencing, report writing, data presentation)Lead remedial skills session (3 hours) in your subject area as requiredLead additional weekly sessions (3 hours) during peak semester periods (e.g. mid semester exams, final semester, exams, major assignment periods) or as requiredComplete all required training for casual positions within the University, including Casual Compliance, Health and Safety, and Appropriate Workplace Behaviour training.Who we are looking forThe ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, positive interactions with diverse individuals, and handling confidential information with professionalism. They demonstrate high-level written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team.You will also have:A university degree in a relevant disciplineFamiliarity with relevant syllabus of the University of Melbourne, in a relevant subject areaAn interest in helping students develop strong academic and study skillsFor further information regarding responsibilities and requirements please refer to the attached PD.This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
