BAKERVillage Ice Cream is on an exciting journey to find a part-time seasonal Baker to assist with inclusion production at our Victoria Park location! As a recognized member of, and advocate for the communities we serve, we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, efficient, and has a passion for food and cooking. As a Baker, you will work hard producing high volumes of ice cream inclusions including cakes, cookies, brownies and more! In any given week, Bakers are working to fun tunes alongside our Sous Chef baking and chopping inclusions that will be distributed among all five of our shop locations as well as getting early previews and tastes of upcoming seasonal flavours. If this sounds like you, we’d love to meet you (over an ice cream of course!)As Baker with Village Ice Cream, you will:Independently follow recipes and work with a small team to produce between 160kg-420kgs of inclusions every week.Prepare ingredients and produce homemade bases, and inclusions such as brownies, cookies, marshmallows, caramel sauces, and praline.Accurately pack and label inventory of inclusion production that will be delivered out to our other 4 shop locations.Ensure inclusion consistency in size and quality.Independently operate commercial ovens, commercial mixers, and a commercial chopping machine.Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the team including the Back of House, Front of House, and Leadership Team.Thoughtfully complete daily cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean and organized.Follow Company policies as well as proper food health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.We think you will thrive in this role if you:Have at least one (1) year of baking experience.Have a passion for food and cooking.Value cleanliness and organization.Are both self-motivated and a dedicated team player.Have great communication skills and a professional, friendly attitude.Are willing to learn and follow instructions with precision as well as give great attention to detail.Can stand up to eight hours and can lift 50lbs repeatedly.Our compensation offer for this role includes:$16.00/hour + tips starting wage with incremental, hour-based raises.Company subsidized mental health benefits from date of hire.Career advancement opportunities in our growing company.All the free ice cream you can eat while on shift!Employee discount to be used on product and merchandise.In addition to sharing your resume with us, please include and address a cover letter to the ‘Hiring team’ at Village Ice Cream with your answers to the following questions: * How does this opportunity align with your personal values and goals?What are you most confident about in terms of your contribution to our team?What do you think will be most challenging for you?If we reach out, please expect an interview process which includes:An initial screening interview with our Head of People and Culture.A more comprehensive interview with representatives of our Management Team.Reference chats with past employers or other contacts.While we’d love to meet everyone who applies, we unfortunately do not have the capacity to do that, so only those who are short-listed will be contacted.Thank you for taking the time to apply!--Village Ice Cream is an independently owned, local, premium small-batch ice cream producer and retailer in the heart of Calgary.
