Zinc works with a broad range of governmental, NGO, and private sector clients, including the UK Home Office (HO); the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the U.S. Department of State (DOS); UN agencies and missions; and foundations.Outline of the jobThe Investigations Manager will provide technical OSINT collection expertise with conventional media research to build a detailed picture of specific geographical and thematic areas of research within eastern Europe. Key responsibilities will include:- Working to the Head of Investigations as the central point for tracking and reporting on specific geo-political and thematic areas of interest within eastern Europe using conventional and social media analysis.- Contribute to identifying strategic themes and areas of investigations into disinformation actors.- Conduct daily briefings to the broader project team on daily topics of news and contribute to setting directions related to communications campaigns on social, environmental and political issues.- Provide the wider team and partners with regular spot reports on specific major incidents, narratives, personalities and economic issues within the areas of research.- Maintain a database of research which will include management of data collection and basic AI tools.- Conduct in-house OSINT research into disinformation actors/channels as required.- Using a variety of visualisation tools and media to display research in a clear and compelling way to multiple audiences.Outputs:- Daily news briefings/digests from geographic areas of research- Weekly/biweekly spot reports on disinformation trends and major social, political and environmental issues.- Investigative database management including visualisation and network analysisRequirements- 3 Years experience in journalism and/or OSINT research within a news organisation or NGO- Interest or experience in eastern Europe and fluency in one of the major languages other than English.
