Our mission is to help more people to hear.The OpportunityCochlear has an opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer based in our Macquarie, Sydney office on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. In this role, the successful Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to bring the next generation of life changing hearing devices to market by designing and developing active implantable electronics..Responsibilities include:· Collaborate cross-functionally and remove boundaries to ensure designs integrate with other functions (ASIC, FW, mechanical, manufacturing, production test systems etc)· Maintain close communication with project managers, working to achieve agreed deliverable dates, scope, and cost to enable successful project delivery.· Write and review design documentation (including risk analysis, failure analysis, dFMEAs, design descriptions, verification protocols and reports) such that Cochlear design procedures are adhered to, and design knowledge is maintained.· Perform verification of electronic designs against requirements and functional specifications to guarantee that product development outcomes are met.· Research and investigate new concepts and technologies which enable Cochlear to maintain its place as the technology leader for hearing solutions.What makes this opportunity unique?This role will support process improvements to help Cochlear maintain effective and efficient research and development procedures. To add value to Cochlear in this role, you'll be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:EssentialRequired Skills· Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or equivalent· At least 5 years of electronics design and verification experience· Good oral and written communication skills· Good understanding of electronic circuits and components, both analog and digital· Proactive and able to self-manage multiple tasks and milestones.· Experience with electrical CAD tools – schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layoutDesired Skills· Experience with medical implants or a highly regulated industry e.g., defense· Experience with audio circuits· Experience with RF circuits and wireless communication· Experience with the Python programming language and embedded firmware in general· Experience managing external suppliers and contractors.Cochlear’s mission is to help people hear and be heard.
