As the apprentice, you are just one of the key players who support the overall safety and efficiency of our infrastructure.About Our OpportunityThis is your opportunity to jump start your Apprenticeship and gain valuable experience with the Building Services Division. In this role, you will advance your professional career through hands on experience, training, and mentorship from highly qualified Red Seal Certified Tradespersons. We guarantee that the skills you will gain from an Apprentice experience us our team, are invaluable and will last a lifetime!Primary AccountabilitiesDuring your apprenticeship, you will be under the general supervision of the Mechanical Trades Coordinator or Plumber Foreperson. During our apprentice experience, you will assist in inspecting, maintaining, repairing, renovating and/or installing plumbing and heating systems and related equipment in provincial owned and leased buildings. You will work with baseboard and unit heaters, piping systems, domestic and wastewater systems, boilers, chilled water systems, pumps and plumbing fixtures, and much more.Qualifications and ExperienceYou must be currently enrolled in a plumbing apprenticeship program recognized by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency.A valid Nova Scotia driver's license is required.Safety training in the following are considered assets: Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, Safety Orientation, First Aid Certification and CPR, WHMIS, Scaffolding Safety, Fall Protection (Basic and Scaffolding Practical), Confined Space Awareness, Elevating Work-PlatformsYou are able to analyze information, problem solve, and have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Your ability to efficiently and effectively obtain information and exercise sound judgment is key. As our next Apprentice, you demonstrate key qualities such as collaborating in a team environment and demonstrate an understanding of diversity and inclusivity.
