Ward 5A is a 24 bed unit which comprises of Cardiology and General Medical Unit. QEII provides a high-quality patient care service utilising a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary approach that promotes continuity of care and facilitates a seamless transition from hospital to home. The unit provides a multidisciplinary approach of patient focused care with the aim to restore clients to their full potential. Acute stroke admissions are admitted directly via the Emergency Department when the diagnosis of Acute Stroke is made. Telemetry is utilised for patients requiring up to 72 hours of cardiac monitoring following diagnosis of acute stroke, to exclude atrial fibrillation. A dedicated, multidisciplinary team delivering expert care, supports patients to achieve their maximum potential.
