Company DescriptionDo you have a passion for combat sports and a knack for spotting the next big thing?We are looking for a Boxing & MMA Trends Writer to join the team at Reach Plc with excellent knowledge of combat sports journalism, reporting on the latest trends, fighters and stories that are captivating audiences around the world, with a proven ability to write interesting and accurate copy at speed.Day to day, your role will be to spot opportunities in the topics that fans are discussing on social media, online communities and search engine trends and coming up with the best idea to excite that interest.We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.Job DescriptionWhat will the role involve?You will find and tell stories ensuring you stay up to date on all things boxing and MMA, from breaking news and fight results to emerging fighters and storylines. You will also be comfortable filming content at events and press conferences if required and be able to work independently conducting interviews in-person or via video conferencing.Telling stories which will be of interest to fighting fans in different ways including live blogs, article format, short and long form video, audio and pictures. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.QualificationsWho are we looking for?An experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge, you have a strong track record of telling stories accurately, that engage large audiences with a real passion for digital storytelling. You’re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!Being a sports journalist you will have encyclopaedic sport knowledge, digital publishing and social media experience. You have a thorough knowledge of Boxing, MMA (especially UFC), Youtube Boxing and the main personalities involved. You will have previous experience of writing about boxing and MMA too.You’re comfortable working a content management system (CMS), live blogging, podcasting and have an understanding of audience analytics while having a track record of building communities on social media platforms such as but not limited to X, Youtube and Tik Tok.Additional InformationWhat can we offer you?We are offering a competitive salary and benefits including;Help saving for your retirement - join our pension scheme and we’ll match contributions up to 6%25 days’ holiday per year when you join.
