We are looking for an Academic Liaison, a helping professional that focuses on holistically supporting and empowering students as they work towards achieving their goals. Academic Liaisons possess a high level of intercultural competence, are comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds, and strive to help students to understand better how plans and actions affect their overall academic and life aspirations.At NAIT, we employ a Learning Outcomes approach to our advising and information services to engage and empower students as they progress through the student lifecycle. Academic Liaisons are part of our JR Shaw School of Business Information Center (BIC) team of dedicated professionals focusing on student support and progression.The Academic Liaison is a senior-level position combining Program Specialist (student coaching and mentoring), academic administration, project management, and team-lead/mentor; the position requires considerable contact with students through one-on-one sessions, group settings, and/or workshops. Academic Liaisons are expected to possess or be willing to develop robust, comprehensive knowledge about their assigned portfolio (in this position, Academic Integrity), including academic programs and pathways, internal and external agencies and associations, policies, procedures, student supports and financial services within the scope of their responsibilities. Academic Liaisons must be able to interpret student needs and provide individualized student-centered service independently and thoroughly. The scope of this role will require extensive relationship building to work collaboratively and collegially with program and service area colleagues across NAIT.JRSSB is actively strengthening our student support functions; as such, Academic Liaisons must be comfortable with change and within the scope of their role, not only bring forward suggestions for improvements to advising practices and business processes but also lead the creation and integration of them. Academic Liaisons will demonstrate a desire to help others, display confidence and composure, and be competent problem-solvers who will use their extensive knowledge to advise students effectively.Key Responsibilities:Lead the creation and continuous improvement of the overall academic integrity process within JR Shaw School of Business & NAIT.Support a case management approach to support thorough investigations liaising with key stakeholders and NAIT services to provide support and/or decision recommendations regarding academic integrity.Support the resolution of student concerns and/or conduct; coordinate and liaise with JRSSB & NAIT Leadership, Program Leadership, Faculty and Student Resolution Office.Collaborate with academic staff and program leadership on academic integrity trends and research.Proactively advise students on the impacts of academic integrity.Collaborate with the Registrars' Office, JRSSB School Leadership, Program Leadership and BIC Program Specialists as JRSSB programming subject matter experts to support all functions of academic integrity.Skills & Abilities:Strong understanding of the theoretical framework of student-centered developmental advising;Ability to handle student, public, external agency and staff enquiries with respect, confidence, and tactProcess creation and project management experienceSignificant knowledge of academic programming, student services, academic administration policies and processesHighly developed communication and interpersonal skills including effective listening and emotional intelligenceExcellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, conflict management and mediation skillsExcellent time-management skills and ability to prioritize and organizeAbility to work as a team leader and build collaborative working relationshipsAbility to learn and use related software.Qualifications:Related post-secondary undergraduate degreeRestorative Justice experience would be considered an asset5+ years of related experience in post-secondary educationEquivalencies may be consideredApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: $77,938.12 - $104,496.86 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Will commensurate with education and experience.
