Explore more on Cubic.com.Job Details:As Solution Architect you are a technical and design Subject Matter Expert on IT infrastructure solutions. In summary the role will be responsible for:The review of the design of IT infrastructure solutions from an operational perspective for transport ticketing systems, including server and storage architecture, network architecture, virtualization, system and network monitoring and management solutions, and disaster recovery.The provision and management of the 3rd level Technical Support of the IT infrastructure solutions and for the ongoing mentoring and development of the Infrastructure team to increase the self-sufficiency of this team in supporting the solutions.To participate in the development of variations, bids and tenders to provide estimates for operations and maintenance costs relating to the provision of IT Infrastructure and Central Systems support.Management of a small team of Systems Administrators responsible for solution design, implementation and third level support.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Change and Release ManagementParticipate in the review, approval and monitoring of changes into the environment, and associated production changes through the internal and external change management processes and in accordance with the Change Management PolicyLead the Design and Implementation of new solutions into the Production Environment in conjunction with the Engineering team, the Release and Change Managers to ensure deployments are well planned, documented and executed and result in successful outcomes with robust back out plans where appropriateInterface and coordinate tasks with internal and external technical resources. Collaborates with Project Managers and technical directors to provision estimates, develop overall implementation solution plan, and serve as a lead as required, to implement the installation, customization, and integration effortsCrisis, Incident and Problem ManagementProvide Infrastructure Architecture leadership to the team into the crisis, incident and problem management processesProvide updates to the Crisis Manager, Stakeholder Manager, Cubic Managers and the Client as requiredManage and monitor escalations to third level and third party support.Provide and manage 3rd level Technical Support of IT infrastructure solutionsSolution ArchitectureProvide advanced solution architecture design and engineering review for customer systems and services requirements definition, architecture development, and system level design and integration for computing, data storage, data retention and recovery needs of business critical applications and functionsParticipate in Engineering working groups, and ensure that the technology organization is aligned to corporate technology directionsAssist application development life cycle by serving as a general operational infrastructure product SME to help identify and qualify infrastructure improvement opportunities that will enhance a systems stability, availability, TOC, and resiliency.Provide advanced technical direction and leadership to the lower level systems administrators/engineers through the planning and implementation processesLead requirements derivation and analysis, system specification, system design, functional partitioning, and system architecture definitionPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:Due to the nature of the role, must be reasonably available 24/7Must have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to deal with tact and professionalism at all times when interfacing with subcontractors, vendors, management, customers and employees in all departments and divisionsMust be able to work under project deadlines pressures, and associated schedule constraintsMust be calm and able to stay focused under pressureResponsible, organised, logical thought processHave a positive attitude and enthusiasm to achieve business deliverablesStrong analytical and problem solving skills a mustMust be able to travel frequently to other Cubic offices and customer sitesSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience5-10 years’ experience in a high-performance datacenter with direct support, systems engineering, design and architect responsibilities.24x7 operations experience required.Highly developed understanding of Virtualisation Technologies including Windows/Unix/VMWareAdvanced knowledge and experience working with high transaction, resource intensive OLTP and batch process databases to include system performance monitoring and tuning for optimal performance.Advanced knowledge of high-availability and redundancy technologies.3+ years in architecture and design of high performance, highly available solutions3+ years’ experience working with storage solutions and related hardware such as SAN and iSCSI.3+ years with high availability solutions such as MSCS or Oracle RACAdvanced knowledge of backup, restore and disaster recovery planning and deployment.Knowledge of network, security and IP Telephony management systemsKnowledge of implementation and configuratrion of Monitoring and Alerting systemsStrong verbal, written communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers, and technical and non-technical persons.Desired:Applied experience in development of standards and processes based on ITIL3+ years of IT Architecture experience with infrastructure design and management (server, applications, and/or networks)Experience with advanced Network Topologies (i.e. Load Balances, Firewalls, Virtual Networks)3+ years designing infrastructure to support customer solutionsExperience in system tuning and performance optimizationAdvanced knowledge and applied experience with various OS platforms such as the current versions of: Windows, Linux, HPUX, AIX, or SolarisAbility to provide leadership and drive and influence decisions.Call Center Technologies: ACD/PBX, CTI, IVR5+ years’ experience working with storage solutions and related hardware such as SAN.Worker Type:EmployeeCubic
