Morning Shift: Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 1:00PMGeneral Statement of Duties: Implement curriculum; interact and nurture children in your care, supervising their activities to ensure a safe environment. Follow the instructions of the Center Director.Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity; eye-hand coordination necessary to perform record management; ability to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis; and ability to escort children into or out of the building during an emergency situation. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range and ability to verbally communicate.Typical Working Conditions: Under the direction of the Lead Teacher work is performed in a child care setting with indoor and outdoor activities.Job Segments:Ensure that staff: child ratio is within limits at all times and reduces staff in classroom as children numbers decrease each dayAssists with implementation of daily curriculum and student activitiesAssists with implementation and supervision of special activities as scheduledAssists with center housekeeping/maintenance (i.e., bathroom, kitchen, cafeteria, activity area, playground, cabinet, etc.) and ensures cleanliness each day of classroom, bathrooms, and playground areas used.Advises Center Director of all child/parent/staff problems immediately and documents as requiredMaintain open communication with children, families, center administration, and Center management teamAttend center and association staff meetings as directed by center managementAttend training as directed by center managementCertified and current at all times in CPR, First Aid, and Fire SafetySuccessfully complete 12+ hours DHR training annuallySuccessfully complete YMCA Child Care Curriculum training as offeredActively participate in annual Community Support Campaign and United Way CampaignPerforms other duties as assigned by Center DirectorPerformance Requirements: obtain 12+ hours DHR approved child care training annually; certified in CPR, First Aid, and Fire Safety; high energy and self motivation; ability to handle multiple tasks and follow directions; proficient in supervision of children; effective time management skills and problem solving; be a team player; and excellent communication skillsEducation/Experience: Must be 18-years-old or older; have High School diploma or GED, additional training in Child Development preferred; and/or 3-5 years experience in child care or group setting.Personal Qualities: Ability to communicate effectively; strong organizational skills; willingness to learn and grow; self-starter, focused; has leadership qualities; and willing to accept change as an opportunity for growth.Status: Part Time Non-ExemptLocation: Child Development CenterHourly Rate: starting at $9.00Diversity & Inclusion: The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities.
