Job Description

The Community and Recreation Facilities Branch is looking for dynamic, energetic, professional and qualified individuals to instruct Learn to Play Pickleball Programs for youth and adults. The main working locations for this program are Clareview Community Recreation Centre, Commonwealth Community Recreation Centre & ACT Aquatic and Recreation Centre with the possibility of other City-wide Recreation Centres.If you are an instructor and want to share your passion and knowledge of pickleball, then this is the position for you!What will you do?Deliver and lead group Pickleball instruction in the time frame and manner that is determined by the class descriptionEnsure classes are progressive, challenging and can adapt to varying levels of participant skills and abilitiesEncourage patrons to improve on their progress in classMaintain a high level of enthusiasm throughout the classContribute to the City's Learn To Play Pickleball Community by communicating in a positive and constructive mannerSub classes and attend professional development workshops as neededEnsure gymnasium spaces are kept tidy and orderly before, during, and after classesMaintain program statistics, such as attendance, evaluations and incident reportsAttend training as requiredPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsCompletion of Grade 12 or GEDAssets:NCCP- Community/Fundamental/Developmental sport specific certification or equivalentExperience in coaching or instructing PickleballSkills required for success:Ability to teach progressive sport skill development for PickleballExcellent customer service and communication skillsAbility to lead effectively and work within a team environmentKnowledge and experience in working with youth and adultsAlignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies () * Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusionApplicants may be testedConditions of Employment:Possession of valid Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C CertificationHire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of EdmontonThe City of Edmonton values applicants with a diverse range of skills, experiences and competencies, and encourages you to apply.
