Job Description:Job Title: Senior Accountant - US GAAP SpecialistLocation: Derby (Very Flexible Hybrid Working)Company Overview: Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant for our client, a leading company in Derby. This role is ideal for a professional with extensive experience in producing accounts under US GAAP, preferably within a US listed company, Group Finance Function, Internal Audit, or Risk team. This position offers a very flexible hybrid working model and promotes a good work-life balance.Key Responsibilities:Accounting Policies and Procedures:Develop, update, and document accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP, UK GAAP, and regulatory requirements.Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the company, recommending necessary updates to policies.Financial Transactions and Reporting:Ensure proper recognition and disclosure of financial transactions in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.Review financial statements and disclosures to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies and standards.Complex Accounting Issues:Research and analyse complex accounting issues and transactions, providing guidance and recommendations to the finance management team.Assess the accounting implications of proposed business transactions, acquisitions, or changes in accounting policies.Subject Matter Expertise:Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting policies and standards, effectively communicating with the finance team and external auditors.Provide training and education to finance and non-finance personnel on accounting policies, standards, and related matters.Audit and Compliance:Collaborate and support audit activities related to accounting policies, financial reporting, and compliance.Develop accounting processes, controls, and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.Continuous Improvement:Stay updated with accounting standards, regulatory developments, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement in accounting policies and practices.Qualifications and Skills:Experience:Extensive experience in US GAAP and its application to financial reporting and transactions.Experience within a publicly traded company or public accounting firm.Certification:Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).Skills:Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex processes and identify policy/control deficiencies.Proficiency with Office applications and excellent computer skills.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Approachability and strong interpersonal skills at all levels of staff and management.Ability to collaborate and train across multiple levels in the organisation.Ability to work within a wider operational team and fully contribute to management discussions.Benefits:Very flexible hybrid working modelGood work-life balanceCompetitive salary and benefits packageIf you are a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in US GAAP, we encourage you to apply.
