OverviewReporting to the Director, Corporate and Commercial, the Senior Manager, Legal Services acts as senior corporate/commercial solicitor and may lead other lawyers within the Corporate/Commercial Department.How you’ll make a difference: You’ll ensure WorkSafeBC is serving stakeholders across B.C. effectively.Where you’ll workAt WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.In this role, you’ll work primarily at our Richmond office, with the opportunity for some remote work.What you'll doCarry a full caseload, with a focus on legal advice to WorkSafeBC’s Real Property and Workplace Services department, including drafting and advising on leases, property licenses and the procurement of facilities-related services for owned and leased premises.Negotiate and draft commercial agreements on behalf of WorkSafeBC with external parties for the delivery of services related to WorkSafeBC premises.Be responsible for developing the legal skills of the lawyers on your team through hands-on coaching and mentoring.Participate in strategic and business planning for the Legal Services Division, including formulating operational plans for your team.Support business initiatives by participating on enterprise and divisional committees.Is this a good fit for you?We’re looking for someone:Whose clients trust them to provide legal advice that is not only right, but is practical, timely, and includes options for clients to achieve their desired outcome.Who constantly strives to grow and develop as a lawyer and takes pride in producing a quality legal product.Who takes an outcome-oriented and problem-solving approach with clients and team members to resolve an issue.Can interact with management, peers, and clients in a confident, professional, and objective manner.Can work in a corporate environment.Your background and experienceA solicitor who is a full-time practicing member in good standing of the Law Society of British Columbia, with a minimum of seven years of experience directly related legal services of the type delivered to WorkSafeBC’s Real Property and Workplace Services.Experience with using CCDC forms.Experience in a private practice or inhouse setting.Experience in managing a busy practice in a team-based environment.Important to knowWorkSafeBC’s COVID-19 Employee Mandatory Vaccine Policy is suspended effective January 9, 2023; however, we reserve the right to re-implement it in response to changes in the public health landscape, including public health orders.
