Health Emergency Management BC (HEMBC) Advisors work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to prepare for and respond to these threats.What you’ll doHelp diverse health staff plan for emergenciesSupport the delivery of health emergency management exercises to test plans, identify gaps in process or response and continuously support opportunities for improvementWork with the Manager and Coordinators to resolve health emergency management operational issues and support best practiceDevelop and/or maintain health emergency management manuals and related documentation by reviewing annually to ensure that all support tools reflect current practice and processAct as a liaison and advisor on health emergency management preparedness with the Health Authority and with external parties such as municipal agencies and other emergency management stakeholders by actively participating and collaborating in regional meetings to ensure integrated emergency management processes and responseProvide after hours on-call service for the Health Emergency Management portfolio for the Health Authority by responding to emergency events and providing a liaison role within an activated Emergency Operation Centre that supports communication with external partners and agenciesAssist in budget preparation by making recommendations regarding emergency management requirements and priorities and by preparing supporting documentationYour ability to solve problems and innovate will be in demand, and your lifelong commitment to learning will help us learn from disasters across the globe.What you bringQualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management or a related field, supplemented with three (3) years’ recent related experience in a large, complex, multi-site organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experienceWorking knowledge of applicable legislation and provincial/national standards on health emergency management and regulatory requirementsDemonstrated ability to effectively develop and maintain rapport with internal and external stakeholdersExcellent organization and time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlinesA current BC driver’s license and ability to travel within the Health Authority and the provinceSkills & KnowledgeCommitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).What we bringEvery PHSA employee enables the best possible patient care for our patients and their families.
