The Mary Campbell Center is first, last, and always, home to 68 residents. Together, staff ensures services are delivered with a high degree of quality, in a homelike environment where residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence to the fullness of their abilities. The Driver provides safe and comfortable transportation for Center residents to medical appointments, church services and other activities/locations within assigned timelines. The Driver must work reliably, effectively, efficiently, and with respect for residents, staff, families, volunteers, professional consultants, and the physical environment of the Center.Position requires every other weekend on Sundays and some week days. Hours are 25 every 2 weeks.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:The Driver at the Mary Campbell Center must 1) be a good person of high character who consistently works with a positive attitude and demonstrates compassion and understanding for residents with varying degrees of disability; 2) possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent; 3) have the ability to read and write and to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; 4) have the ability to follow instructions and adhere to a structured driving schedule; 5) have a desire/interest in working with the disabled; 6) hold a valid driver's license and a clean driving record; 7) be willing to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) C or B; 8) have the ability to bend, stretch, reach and help to lift residents; and 9) have the ability to work a flexible schedule.Position requires every other weekend on Sundays and some week days. Hours are 25 every 2 weeks.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Loading and driving residents to medical appointments, church services, community work programs, interviews, recreational outings and other locations, as assigned.Orienting and training new drivers on usage of vehicles, lift mechanisms and safety devices.Keeping accurate, daily vehicle log records.Working with other members of The Resident Appointment Team to assure residents' needs are met and appointments run smoothly.Reporting vehicle safety and/or maintenance problems to appropriate personnel.Fueling vehicles and ensuring each is ready for operation on a daily basis.Assisting residents with leisure activities during non-appointment or down time.Assisting with the cleaning of the vehicles as assigned.Communicating schedule changes with all necessary parties.Adhering to traffic laws, rules of the road, and established speed limits.Completes all mandatory in-services and attends staff meetings as required.Performs all other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS:The Driver works indoors and outdoors, in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, with exposure to fuels and odors. Daily bending, stretching, reaching and helping to lift residents is required. While there is a no cell phone use policy in effect at The Mary Campbell Center, said restrictions shall not apply to MCC drivers who are using a cell phone in the course of their duties; however, all drivers are expected to adhere to The Mary Campbell Center Distracted Driving Policy.
