The incumbent will serve as primary liaison with users, which includes the assessment of current business practices, needs and priorities. For the immediate future, the incumbent will develop and support in-house applications and web portal solutions as well as enhance third party applications to assist in the strategic function of the support area. As part of the long term strategy of the institution, the incumbent will be a member of the team that transitions the on-premises ERP system to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) cloud-based solution. Considering the transition to a new platform and the integration complexities involved, the candidate who can adapt to these changes, learn new technologies quickly, and contribute effectively to the team will be crucial for a smooth transition and ongoing development in the SaaS environment. The incumbent will work with the requesting and affected departments to provide technical guidance and software solutions.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAnalysis and DesignLead meetings with users to gather user requirementsEvaluate user requirements and assess feasibility of the request through detailed analysisAdvise users as to the most efficient solutions to their issues/problemsDesign one or more alternative solutions to be presented to users for input making use of prototypes, screen/report layouts and mock-upsAnalysis and design activities are carried out on documentation, system procedures, program specifications, file or database design including screen and report layoutsDevelopment and TestingDevelop efficient, maintainable solutions which accurately meet the needs of users within the assigned deadlines using a variety of software development toolsDevelopment is in the form of applications, reports, forms, database packages, procedures, functions, triggers, tables and viewsPerforms thorough unit and integration testing of application code and processes, assists users in development of test plan and coordinates with users to perform meaningful user acceptance testingDocuments new solutions and trains usersMaintenance and SupportProvides ongoing support to users, including adhoc requests, training, handling hotline calls, and writing non-technical documentation.Provides estimates for enhancements which aid in prioritizationPerforms system upgrades as required to maintain current technologyServices two distinct institutions (Durham College and Ontario Tech University) each with its own set of diverse business processes and rules which must be learned, interpreted and applied through technical solutions.Research and TrainingParticipates in research and training on technologies and applications to maintain a skill level that matches the evolution of technologies related to performing these duties and keeping application technically current.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS * A minimum of a 3-year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.A minimum of 5 years of relevant practical work experience.Experience with Oracle RDBMS, SQL, PL/SQL and Application Express.Knowledge of JAVA, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, React, JSON, GraphQL.Familiarity with Ellucian Banner and related products such as Experience, Ethos Integration, Intelligent Learning Platform are an asset.Ability to design, develop, and maintain APIs for seamless integration between different systems and services, including Ethos API usage.Familiarity with cloud-based development environments and practices, especially relevant for working with SaaS solutions.Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the software development life cycle and how it is applied in a multi-tiered environment.Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, users, and other team members for successful project delivery and support.Required SkillsPayband: K; Starting Rate: $44.52; Four Year Rate: $51.62Required ExperienceHours: 40 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri (8:30 am – 5:30 pm)Please apply below by submitting your cover letter and resume to the online portal.
