The Grande Prairie mill is a 1000+ tonne per day Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill. It currently operates with approximately 380 mill employees in a high performance, results oriented environment.Key FunctionsThe Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for providing the necessary repair and preventative maintenance on mill's transport and heavy equipment.Key AccountabilitiesSafetyParticipate in the safety, health, and environmental activities in accordance with standards established by the Grande Prairie Mill.Maintain EquipmentParticipate in a team environment while maintaining a high level of precision on variety of equipment in all areas of the mill.Perform Preventative MaintenancePerform Preventative maintenance work, complete work orders and PM routes as required by area of responsibility.Ability to develop a preventative maintenance mindset vs a reactionaryFailure EliminationActively participate in the RCFA (Route Cause Failure Analysis) process for the mill.Perform surveys of failure causes related to lubrication on equipment using technical knowledge and equipment history to identify solutions to eliminate problemsWork Systems ImprovementsContribute to the improvement and maintenance of technical standards, work instructions and procedures, identifying and implementing changes as necessary.The Skills You Will Bring:Core CompetenciesQuality Orientation and Standards ComplianceTime Management - Planning and OrganizingDevelopment and Continual LearningProblem SolvingAccountability and DependabilityDecision Making and JudgmentCommunicationTeam WorkQualificationsRequired qualifications include:High school diploma, GED, or trade schoolWilling and able to work overtime, weekends, and on-call5 years' experience on Transport and Heavy Duty equipmentExperience in reading manufacturers maintenance manualsExperience in troubleshooting equipment issues with bearings, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, engine and transmissions, etc.Experience using a computer for troubleshooting, record keeping and documentationWilling and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy environmentAbility to communicate effectively and constructively, as well as good verbal and written English skills.Strong interpersonal and organizational skillsComprehension of complex work instructions and documentation as well as the ability to perform duties with little directionAbility to travel internationally if required.Preferred qualifications include:Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic5 years' experience as a full-time Heavy Duty Mechanic journeyperson technicianCVIP Certification/ExperienceExperience using SAPAbility to manage teams or crewsOff-road experienceClass 1 or 3 driver's licenseHydraulic experienceThe Benefits You Will Enjoy:Paid time off including Vacation and HolidaysEmployer Paid Retirement Program, plus optional matching contributionsMedical & DentalEducation & Development (including Tuition Reimbursement)Life & Disability InsuranceOn-site cafeteriaThe Career You Will Build:Leadership trainingPromotional opportunitiesThe Impact You Will Make:We continue to build a better future for people, the plant, and our company!
