Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Technical Manager, Laboratory Client and Support Centre and with considerable latitude for initiative, planning and independent action, the Technical Supervisor is responsible for the efficient, timely, cost-effective quality driven and current technological operation of Blood Collection Services. The Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of multi-site blood collection clinics, including those located at the QEII, Bayers Road, Spryfield and St Margaret's Bay. The Supervisor will work closely with the Central Specimen Accessioning and Central Reporting Supervisor and will collaborate with and support the Offsite Blood Collection Supervisor.In collaboration with the Technical Manager and Department Head, the Supervisor:Ensures the provision of a high level of customer service to patients and healthcare providers by effectively deploying and supporting the technical and administrative staffEnsures that equipment used in the collection clinics are properly serviced and maintainedEnsures there are sufficient and appropriate materials availableEnsures high standards of safety procedures by constant evaluation and monitoringSupports and coordinates recruitment, training, performance evaluations and managementConsults with, collaborates, and responds to patients, healthcare providers, hospitals, nursing units and other internal and external clients regarding delivery of servicesInforms decisions about the most efficient use of financial, human and material resources while meeting operational needs and working within the appropriate policies and financial budgetsParticipates in short- and long-term planning for area(s) of responsibility, including planning for new, revised or expanded serviceMakes objective and respectful decisions consistent with policies, standards and objectives of the laboratory in an environment that involves consideration of patient safety, future needs of the organization and best use of human and material resourcesDemonstrates good stewardship in the identification, reporting & mitigation of unsafe Acts or conditionsAbout YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Graduate of an approved program in Medical Laboratory Science or MSc. in disciplineMust be licensed with NSCMLTCertification with CSMLS is requiredMedical Laboratory Technologist with four (4) years progressively more responsible experience in a laboratory, plus completion of a management program or commitment to successfully completing a management program in three years and/or a combination of education, training and progressively more responsible experiencePrevious management experience and direct supervision of staff and/or multiple departments in a laboratory setting is preferredPrevious expertise in the Pre analytical aspects of the laboratory medicine is an assetDemonstrates supervisory and leadership skillsExcellent organization and decision-making skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skills are essentialKnowledge of management systems and accreditation requirementsAdvanced computer skills and knowledge of Cerner Laboratory Information System (LIS) as related to the function of the section(s) is preferredCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferredPlease ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weeklyTravel to other sites will be requiredCompensation and Benefits$37.61 - $49.97 HourlySuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
