LocationHighways Depot , ChesterfieldReferenceJOB/24/02793Salary detailsGrade 9 £30,054 - £31,963 per annumJob termFull TimeAppointment typePermanentHours37 hours per weekClosing Date01 September 2024Project Chargehand£30,054 - £31,963 - Plus market leading package (see below), additional overtime and standby pay.We're looking for experienced Project Chargehands to be part of the Highways Construction Services team undertaking planned highway, bridge and related construction and reconstruction projects, all based within our beautiful county of Derbyshire.You will be working in a high-profile area of the business that is front and centre in terms of the Council's Service Plan forming part of a motivated team who strive to achieve improved performance in service delivery embracing new technologies and best working practices.You be responsible for the successful delivery of allocated schemes, working with and supervising teams to complete work within prescribed timescales to the required standard, providing value for money.What will you be doing?Supervising teams and subcontractors, allocating work, selecting the appropriate approach for the conditions, and ensuring specifications, budgetary constraints and quality standards are met.You'll be responsible for managing construction sites, and controlling and directing safe site operations, including devising and implementing safe systems of work and undertaking and reviewing risk assessments.Using your ability to ensure good relationships with, and the safety of, the public, employees, clients, and contractors is essential, minimising disruption to travel as much as possible.You'll be part of a mandatory rota to deliver adverse weather and emergency services and winter maintenance (gritting and snow clearing), outside normal working hours, for which you'll received additional payment.We'd like to hear from you if you have:A full driving licence LGV C, C+E, GExperience in a supervisory role and the ability to manage, motivate, mentor and develop a teamExperience in Highways maintenance and construction services, including winter maintenance and adverse weather activities.The full range of construction skills including drainage, road resurfacing, manhole construction, kerbing works, fencing, flag and block laying, structural concreting, and patchingKnowledge of the current highways and bridgeworks specifications, national contract conditions, and statutory regulationsThese lists are not exhaustive, take a look at our comprehensive job profile for more detail.What we offer you:25 days of annual leave (plus another 5 with 5 years of continuous service)A friendly and supportive working environmentDerbyshire based work locationsThe opportunity to develop yourself and your career with ongoing training opportunitiesRegular standard working hours (typically 8:00am until 4:00pm)Additional overtime and standby payments for working out of hoursDefined Benefit Local Government Pension SchemeA comprehensive wellbeing package including physio, counselling & occupational healthDiscount on leisure centre membershipsAnd much.For more information on other vacancies in our Highways team, the wonderful work we do and the benefits we can offer simply visit;Provisional Interview Date: 30 August2024Apply now and take the first step towards a fulfilling career with us!
