It is also an academic Department within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Central Clinical School, Monash University and is a premier centre for clinical and biomedical research and education.The Department offers expertise in general infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, hospital-acquired infections and antimicrobial resistance, infection prevention, viral hepatitis, sexually -transmitted infections, and infections in immunocompromised hosts. We have six active clinical units at any one time with a dedicated general infectious diseases inpatient unit, an HIV inpatient unit, a general consultative service, an immunocompromised host consultative service, and an antimicrobial stewardship and ICU-Burns service.One of the premier services provided by the Department is the Victorian State-wide HIV Service which provides a comprehensive program for individuals and populations affected by or infected with HIV in Victoria. This ranges from acute care and chronic illness management, to health maintenance, prevention and health promotion. Complications of HIV and antiretroviral therapy, in addition to the myriad of co -morbidities such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, renal impairment, viral hepatitis and liver disease, drug and alcohol related disorders, neurocognitive impairment and psychiatric illness are all managed in a multidisciplinary ambulatory care clinic.We are geographically located within a vibrant Alfred Medical Research and Education Precinct, which provides a seamless transition between clinical care, research and education. In collaboration with other Monash Partners, we have recently been named as one of four Academic Health Science Centres by the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council.About the roleEvery Alfred Health nurse must practice in accordance with the Alfred Health Nursing Professional Practice Framework.The Professional Practice Framework defines the elements of nursing practice that improve the care and experience of our patients and aligns with the Patient's Come First Strategy.It is comprised of five domains that are crucial to maintain standards, lead change and add value to healthcare. These domains are Care, Leadership, Professional Development, Workforce, Research and Informatics.The Infectious Diseases Clinic Coordinator will oversee the day to day operations of the Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic. They will supervise nursing and administration staff working in the clinic ensuring excellence in clinical practice and patient care. They will work as key part of the Outpatient leadership team; Infectious Diseases Medical Lead, Operations Manager and the Nurse Manager The Fairfield Centre & Alfred Lane House Outpatient Department to deliver a leading Outpatient Clinic. They will work collaboratively with key Infectious Diseases staff and VMOs to advance existing services and help drive new outpatient service initiatives, lead quality initiatives in the clinic and assist in the leadership of the HIV model of outpatient care and initiatives to improve the model of care for general infectious diseases patients.The Clinical Coordinator will oversee the flow of patients through the clinic and appropriate triaging of referrals occurs. They will oversee the day to day resourcing in the clinic.
