PYD motivates youth to reach their personal, educational, and career goals, and guides organizations in becoming more inclusive to youth with disabilities.PYD is a pioneer in its space. Founded in 1985 – a full five years before the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act – PYD began as a one-to-one mentoring program for youth with disabilities, providing these youth with adult role models and, through these mentors, an extended support system. Over the past 39 years, PYD has established itself as a national, highly sought-after leader in its field, with a reputation for delivering innovative and high-quality programs and services. PYD empowers more than 500 youth annually through direct service programs and has delivered inclusion best practices training to more than 10,000 individuals across 300+ organizations, spanning 13 states. With an exceptionally strong reputation at the forefront of the field, an established set of programs delivered in Massachusetts, and a solid foundation of national work, PYD is poised to continue to significantly expand the organization’s leadership position, reach, and impact – at the individual, organizational, and societal level. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of work at our office or in the community at least half of the week.Program DescriptionThe Program Coordinator - Internships position is on the Career Readiness team, engaging youth and young adults with disabilities. PYD’s programs are community based with headquarters located in Boston, MA. The Coordinator position is a full-time role and requires a willingness to travel independently throughout the service area and work occasional weekends dependent on program needs. The organization currently is working in a hybrid work format, this role is expected to be in the office or community a minimum of two days per week.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesEssential Responsibilities:Oversee design and successful implementation of PYD’s internship program, including completion of all necessary paperwork and documentation for businesses and participants and ensure successful completion of payroll for all internshipsCreate new relationships in the business community to provide internship opportunities for PYD participants.Cultivate existing relationships within the business community to provide internship experiences for PYD participants.Collaborate with the Career Readiness team to ensure successful onboarding process for student internshipsOversee all student interns from onboarding to internship completion.Effectively communicate with the assigned internship support staff to establish weekly check-ins with each intern and site supervisors.Maintain an accurate record of work including weekly case notes and attendance records using data management systems.Provide classroom instruction and support to students during Pre-Employment Program sessions taking place in schools, various community locations, or virtually.Differentiate curriculum, incorporating Universal Design for Learning guidelines, as needed for participants based on tier/skill level.Assist with program data collection and evaluation.Complete and assist with editing and submission of required reporting for MRC including individual participant reports.Marginal Responsibilities:Engage in PYD’s online inclusion communities to provide additional resources, support, guidance, and timely access to eventsAttend monthly staff meetings, quarterly National Disability Mentoring Coalition meetings, and team meetings and supervisionWork with PYD development team to identify internship opportunities through our donor base and help with creating development opportunities from organizations and businesses who provide internshipsContribute to the newsletter, blog, social media content, and other promotional collateralAssist with grant reports and proposals as necessaryAssist with special projects as they occurDesired Credentials/Profile of the Ideal CandidateLegally authorized to work in the U.S.Able to independently travel across MassachusettsAvailable for occasional evening and weekend programmingAn excellent verbal and written communicatorIs organized, with excellent decision making, planning, time management, verbal, and written communication skills.Demonstrates accuracy, comprehensiveness, and attention to detail.Ability to effectively manage teams, multitask, and meet competing demands to meet deadlines, adjusting to shifting priorities with flexibility when necessaryIs a self-starter and problem solver, able to work independently, and to identify work needed to be completed.Leverages technology, including SalesForce and other tools effectively to maintain and improve efficiency.Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team; seeks and allows in support appropriately, including receiving feedback and information.A passion for working with youth with disabilities, and an unshakable belief in their potential and a strong commitment to the mission of PYDCommitment to diversity and inclusionAbility to work in the communityAbility to travel independentlyOther TasksEngage in PYD’s other department and communities to provide additional resources, support, guidance, and timely access to eventsAttend monthly staff meetings, team meetings, and supervisionSupport the planning and management of PYD community and fundraising eventsAssist with grant reports and proposals as necessaryAssist with special projects as they occurDiversity & Inclusion - Our Inclusion PromiseAt Partners for Youth with Disabilities, we welcome and include people of all abilities, identities, and backgrounds. PYD provides employees with a generous benefits package that includes a 401(k)-retirement plan with 3% employer contribution, FSA and TSA plan, paid time off (vacation, sick, personal, and holidays), health/dental vision insurance with a generous employer contribution, employer-paid life and AD&D insurance, and employer-paid short-term & long-term disability insurance. PYD maintains a hybrid work schedule and will continue to adapt work as warranted by the organization’s needs.
