Probation/Trial Period: 910 working hours or six (6) months, whichever occurs firstHours: 0-10 hours per weekFunding: BudgetStart Date: August 26, 2024Location: Winnipeg, MBJob Type: TemporaryStatus: ExistingDate Posted: 07/17/2024Closing Date: 08/07/2024Salary Range: $15.30 per hour + 6% vacation pay*This posting will be used to hire 5-7 candidates for 3-month temporary positions*The Campus Sustainability Office is hiring Student Sustainability Ambassadors to assist with campus-wide sustainability education and engagement. The selected students will work up to 10 hours per week, for 3 months.Working in teams and supported by CSO staff, the Sustainability Ambassadors will promote our social and environmental initiatives across campus. These Sustainability Ambassadors will table at events, conduct pop-up waste sorting workshops next to our new multi-stream waste bins, give class presentations, and share volunteer and leadership opportunities with their fellow students.Responsibilities:Perform public speaking and presentations.Engage members of the campus community in conversations about sustainability.Participate in outreach activities i.e. tabling at events, class talks, flyering, bin-side education.Assist in tracking the impact sustainability activities via qualitative and quantitative data collection and data entry.Qualifications:Currently a UWinnipeg student.Fluent in English.Self-directed and able to initiate conversations about sustainability.Passionate and knowledgeable about social and environmental issues.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to speak to small and/or large groups of people.Ability to work from September – November 2024.Available for in person training on August 26 or 27th.An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.Condition(s) of Employment:Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Note: The work described in this posting will be conducted in-person.Please include a short cover letter explaining your interest in the position with your application.The University of Winnipeg is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and recognizes that a diverse staff and faculty benefits and enriches the work, learning and research environments, and is essential to academic and institutional excellence.
