At North York General, our team is making a world of difference.Position SummaryMental Health Clinician, Eating DisorderYou will provide family based therapy to patients and families recovering from an eating disorder. The Mental Health Clinician works with the patient and family to support health, wellness and recovery. You will develop and implement a plan of care in collaboration with the child/family and other health care team members. You will maintain clinical competence and knowledge through continuing education and life-long learning. You have superior communication and interpersonal skills, effortlessly connecting with physicians, staff, patients, and families, and display a high degree of professionalism, with the ability to work independently, in small groups, and in a team environment. You demonstrate strong problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. This position supports the Hospital's academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers, learners, patients and families.On a practical level, you willProvide direct care to patients and families of the Eating Disorder ProgramDevelop and implement a plan of care in collaboration with the child/family and other health care team members; attend meetings, maintain recordsParticipate in the delivery of individual and group therapiesCollaborate to develop individualized and comprehensive plan of care to achieve mutually agreed upon goalsParticipate in quality improvement activities as requiredEngage in evidence based practice and may initiate changes to improve the quality of interventions as appropriateParticipate in ongoing professional developmentPerform all aspects practice in accordance with professional Standards as set out by related professional regulatory bodyPerform duties as required to meet the needs of the patient/client populationMaintain an updated knowledge of community resources, identify gaps in service and respond to client and community needsEvaluate and assess clinical findings in order to identify functional strengths and weaknesses.Supervise students, interns and volunteers.Effectively communicate and participate in the education of staff, students and the communityQualificationsMaster of Social Work, Nursing, Psychology or equivalentMembership in good standing or eligibility for membership in related professional collegeKnowledge and experience with FBT for Eating Disorders preferred3-5 years clinical counselling experience with children and adolescents required.Broad experience in an acute psychiatric setting, preferredKnowledge and work experience with DBT preferredBilingualism in French/English an asset.What We OfferWorking at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada's leading hospitals.This is a Full Time Other position with 8 hour shifts, days shifts, in the Eating Disorder Program (Phillips House-Mental Health).We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which may include benefits, pension, vacation pay, or pay in lieu of benefits, when applicable.
