We believe that with effective support mechanisms and the correct interventions, we can change service user’s ideology, helping them desist from crime and reach their true potential.Job DescriptionThis post presents an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of the delivery of a bespoke service in HMP Wandsworth providing support for Foreign National Offenders (FNOs).This team provides a range of support services to enable FNOs to engage with the criminal justice and asylum/immigration, empowering them with practical skills to increase confidence and access purposeful activity.As a Support Practitioner you will gain experience and knowledge of prison estates and the processes and procedures within the prison environment. You will support prisoners via a range of methods, including one to one support and group work designed to improve social/communication skills, specialist advice on asylum claims or extradition issues, or group sessions on coping mechanisms and relationships.You'll receive training on all these different services, and will also benefit from the opportunity to attend Home Office led training. We also work closely with external partner like Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID UK) and the Refugee Council, so you'll gain great insight and networks across the sector.The work is challenging, but it can also be hugely rewarding.
