Position summary:As a CDL Instructor at Kilgore College you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction tostudents seeking Commercial Driver's Licenses. This position plays a crucial role in preparing students forsuccessful careers in the transportation and logistics industry.Position responsibilities:Conduct classroom lectures and practical demonstrations on CDL regulations, safety protocols, and driving techniques as defined by the FMCSA.Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to state CDL requirements and industry standards.Provide hands-on training and supervision during vehicle operation to ensure students learn proper driving skills.Assess student progress through tests, evaluations, and observations, providing constructive feedback for improvement.Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and completion of required training hours.Collaborate with other instructors and administrative staff to enhance curriculum and program effectiveness.Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in CDL training to incorporate into teaching practices.Must be willing to obtain all endorsements available on a commercial license.Minimum Position Requirements:CDL Class A or B license with a clean driving record.Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably in commercial transportation.Proven experience in teaching, training, or mentoring individuals in a classroom or instructionalsetting.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse groups of students, bilingual a plus.Strong understanding of CDL regulations, safety practices, and industry standards as defined by CFR 49 and the FMCSA.Certification as a CDL Instructor a plus.Supervisory Responsibilities:0 Full-Time Direct Reports 0 Part-Time Direct ReportsPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office and classroom environment.No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.No or very limited exposure to physical risk.Safety:Provide resources for safe operation of units. Base pay for 5 years of experience begins at $56,901 for an Associates degree, and increases based on degree and years of experience. Overload and summer classes are paid separately.Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program. As a result, employees/retirees of the college are subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and possibly the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
