Job Description

Becoming our Director of Financial Operations means you will be an inspiring leader, playing a pivotal role in delivering our financial strategy and aligning it with our financial operational plan. Our strategic plans and our customers have communities and homes they are proud to live in, with customers demonstrably at the heart of our business. This is a unique opportunity to lead our new Finance Team and as the Director of Financial Operations, you will play a crucial role in improving financial reporting and transparency.About usWe are a social housing landlord and one of the largest housing providers in the region with over 22,000 social and affordable homes, mainly in the Bradford district. We employ a talented workforce of nearly 1,000 people.Working to provide great homes in great neighbourhoods, we are proud to collaborate with our customers, communities, local and national stakeholders to achieve this.This year will see us launch our new 5 year corporate strategy to 2029 which puts customers at the heart of what we do, providing great places to live and work, with homes that they are proud to live in.ResponsibilitiesProvide strong leadership, energy and create a performance-focused environment across Finance.Create a positive culture where teams live and breathe our values, have real clarity of expectation, put customers at the heart, and feel empowered to deliver great service.Effective management of people and resourceLead a significant modernisation and performance improvement programme across Finance to deliver our operational and project objectives.Develop a strong Financial Strategy that builds strong performance-focused foundations in the short term and leads to a longer-term vision that transforms the experience of Incommunities’ customers.Ensure our Financial Strategy supports the strategic plan, to improve existing homes and services and develop new homes for our customers.Develop a Financial Strategy that is resilient to unforeseen events ,ensuring that the business plan is sufficiently stress-tested with a range of risk-linked scenarios.Transform the current budget management approach and deliver clear reporting to allow budget holders to manage their budgets, and for Finance to provide a more scrutiny and challenge role.Manage a range of stakeholders including the Regulator, Funders, Standard and Poors, and Internal and External Auditors.Provide clear, concise Finance reports that summarise performance to a range of stakeholders to enable effective decision making and supporting preparation of Board papers.Work with the Executive Director of Finance to establish an operating model within Finance that aligns team structures to the delivery of high-performing servicesDevelop a Financial Strategy that is robust and ensures Financial Viability is maintained.Keep the organisation safe, ensure controls are in place and develop solutions that enable to deliver target service levels and home standards our customers deserve.Develop a culture for business partnering across the organisation and improve the suite of reporting allowing transparency and accountability.Establish key performance metrics around which the organisation can galvanise and are used to drive performance improvement.Build the capability in teams to deliver effective Finance service and implement clear performance frameworks to monitor and drive high performance.Manage the Finance function by leading from the front, showing direct reports how to motivate and focus our time and resources to reach our strategic goals. Provide assurance to the Executive Management team, Board and committee against strategic objectivesWork with colleagues across the business and external partners strategically to design and lead services suitable for customers today and in the future, whilst managing any risks.RequirementsQualified CCAB approved accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA / ICAEW).Excellent analytical skills, using data to inform and make decisions.Substantial experience across finance, including financial planning, financial reporting (management and statutory), financial systems and rents and service charges.Experience in treasury management (including raising debt finance and covenants).Unique insight in Business planning and developing scenarios to ensure the financial plan is resilient, understanding and experience of preparing and reviewing regulatory returns.Experience in managing relationships with external stakeholders such as External Auditors.Excellent oral and written communications skills, in particular the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to Executive Management Team (EMT), Committees , Board and external stakeholders.Strong regulatory knowledge, understanding the impact of regulatory standards and implementing what needs to be in place.The ability to lead, motivate and develop a large and vital team whose success has a wider impact throughout the business.Experience working at a senior level, ideally within the housing sector and managing complex change projects.BenefitsSalary upto £110,000 per yearWest Yorkshire Pension Fund membership - Current employer contribution is 15.9%29 days annual leave plus bank holidays which increases the longer you work with us.This role typically requires you to be in the office a minimum of two days per week, with additional days as necessary depending on job demandsOption to buy and sell annual leaveTraining, development, and qualification opportunitiesOur Hub: our wellbeing and benefits site, with exclusive access to discounts and savings (at over 800 retailers)Corporate health scheme membershipAccess to an Employee Assistance ProgrammeCycle to work schemeLocal gym membership discounts.A team of trained Mental Health First Aiders who are available for colleagues to contact for supportFirst stage interviews are due to take place via Teams on Friday 9th August.Second stage interviews are due to take place in person on Tuesday 20th August.Early application is encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.We kindly ask no speculative CVs from recruitment agencies.If you require any additional information before making a formal application, please email Surinder Sandhu - surinder.sandhu@incommunities.co.uk.
