Our goal is to achieve and maintain equal employment opportunities, with policies in place to maintain a work environment free from discrimination.Visual Arts TeacherGrades 9-12Position OverviewFranklin, a visionary grade 9-12 co-educational school located in Jersey City, is seeking an experienced and innovative High School Visual Arts Teacher to begin in the Fall of 2024.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement lesson or unit structures that are clear, logical, and transparentDemonstrate knowledge of content and a wide range of instructional pedagogiesCultivate creativity within each studentCreate a positive classroom environment that is engaging and fosters student growthCommunicate concrete and abstract concepts to students.Collaborate with teachers from other subject areas to plan and implement interdisciplinary studyGuide and support students as they make connections to Franklin’s applied learning philosophyDisplay a commitment to diversity and create a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging in approach to teaching and learning, as they are recognized and valued by FranklinQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts, Education or a related field requiredMaster’s Degree in Visual Arts, Education, or a related field preferredAt least two (2) years of relevant, full-time high school visual arts teaching experience strongly preferredPast success teaching students with varying skill levels and learning stylesKnowledge of art history and different art genres in order to teach a range of stylesExperience with thoughtful integration of technology into the visual arts curriculaThe ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and eager to contribute positively to the Franklin community, demonstrating willingness to engage with, and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
