We are proud and confident in our heritage, our capabilities and our people and believe that by creating a culture where individuals feel they can make a difference and enjoy coming to work, we can deliver the best possible service to our customers.Our core values of Expertise, Innovation and Integrity provide a clear daily guide to how we work together safely, as one team, helping each other to succeed.Job DescriptionReporting to – ManagerResponsible for all aspects of testing from an engineering perspective including liaising with the customer, working with the Technicians to deliver the project, overseeing preparation, equipment installation, instrumentation, testing and then formulating and validating test results into data packs and test reports. Support a culture of continuous improvement to help drive improvements in safety and security, customer service and technical excellence.Role & ResponsibilitiesHealth, Safety, Environment & Security:Ensure appropriate PPE is being used at all times in designated areasEnsure H&S procedures & processes are appropriate and being appliedEnsure appropriate security measures are in place and being used in the labsCreate and maintain risk assessment for the tests in the area of responsibilityCustomer service:Liaise with the customer to ensure the project is delivered on time and to their expectationsLiaise with the customer to obtain feedback relating to performance improvementsDevelop improved systems of work, data handling and manipulationDeliver test reports accurately (RFT) and on time (OTD)Report regularly to customers as requiredTechnical excellence:Work with other Engineers, Senior Engineers and Principal Engineers to design test and timing plansCompetently and efficiently deliver tests to a high professional standardLiaise with Technicians providing appropriate detail to ensure efficient testingCollate test results from various logging equipment and validate for approvalIdentify improvements and manage change appropriatelyCompliance:Ensure project documentation is up to date and consistentEnsure equipment calibration is valid and report any issuesAdhere to company policies and proceduresComply with ISO 9001, 14001, 17025, 22301, 27001, 45001 procedures where appropriateFinancial performance:Ensure projects are delivered on time using the agreed level of resourcesMaintain up to date information on job status, expected invoicing and completion dateGeneral:Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC employees at all timesLead by exampleUndertake analysis of results, including statements of conformity or opinions and interpretationsTo report, review and provide authorisation of resultsQualificationsEducated to degree level or equivalent experience in relevant engineering disciplineExperienceVibration testing using shaker systemsComponent rig testingInstrumentation and data acquisition (preferred)Knowledge of sensor types and applications (preferred)Use of CAD systems (preferred)Data processing (preferred)Knowledge of vehicle mechanical systems (preferred)Technical report writingSkillsProficient with Microsoft Office applicationsStrong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsStrong organisational, analytical and problem solving skillsPersonal BehavioursWillingness to learnMethodicalFlexible and adaptableProblem solverHighly motivated team playerCustomer focusedHigh level of confidentiality and integrityOtherFlexibility to travel as and when requiredFull UK driving licence & own transport (UTAC Leyland is not easily assessable via public transport)Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure checkNOTE: This position be will based on site at LeylandAdditional InformationFor you, as a potential UTAC team member, we believe that the international and diverse nature of our business combined with the passion, energy and friendliness of our people create a great place to work.
