If you’re the right person for this role, we are open to discussing you being located in one of our office locations such as Burnaby, Victoria, Whitehorse, Calgary or remotely.We are looking for an Indigenous & Community Engagement Specialist (Junior) to join Ausenco’s Assessment, Social, and Ecology team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate their experience in, and knowledge of, engagement and consultation programs for environmental assessment and other permitted activities. Your excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills will add to our team’s ability to support and lead the design, delivery, and reporting of community, stakeholder and Indigenous engagement activities. Your demonstrated familiarity and experience with engagement best practices, UNDRIP, FPIC and other related enhancements in related policy and regulatory advancements is an asset.If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in one of our other locations.About the roleOur dynamic team:Plans and supports engagement programs that facilitate communication with Indigenous communities across Canada, sometimes in rural and remote settings.Manages, supports, and performs the coordination, organization, and delivery of socio-cultural research, community consultation activities, primary data collection programs, and related community engagement.Contributes to the preparation of well written deliverables in accordance with environmental assessment standards, best practices, preferences and protocols identified by Indigenous Nations, provincial, territorial, and federal regulatory requirements.Supports Indigenous and socio-cultural related research programs.Delivers baseline reports, effects assessments, engagement summaries, and other similar types of deliverables.Supports work related to socio-economics as well as Indigenous Knowledge and traditional use on interdisciplinary projects.QualificationsAbout you:The right candidates will have a degree in humanities, geography, social sciences, communications, or related field of study. Suitable professional and technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.We are looking for professionals with at least 1 to 3 years of experience. Recent graduates will also be considered based on their academic experience and background.Performing consultation and engagement activities, preferably in the context of licensing and permitting of major projects.Working with or for Indigenous Nations.Planning and executing engagement activities such as open houses, workshops, focus groups, and development of strategic engagement materials such as letters, posters, handouts, surveys and feedback forms.Facilitating meetings and/or engagement activities dealing with complex subject matter with diverse audiences.As a successful candidate, you will have:Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.Excellent research, analysis and technical writing skills.Project management skills, the ability to multi-task, and perform under tight timelinesThe ability to produce quality deliverables that stand up to public scrutiny.Strong organizational skillsComfort working independently or as part of a team.The right candidates will be willing to travel, as required.Why Ausenco?We support individual growth and aim to allow you to work in a way that plays to your strengths.
