Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Job Description:*** This is a 22-month fixed term role ***The AV Technician supports the AV and production service delivery for an inspiring array of live in-person and hybrid corporate meetings and events at Sun Life. The Technician ensures services are delivered at a high-quality standard and professional caliber. The Technician is primarily responsible for delivering audio-visual services required for on-site meetings and events as well as supporting virtual events for Sun Life business groups and senior leadership teams. AV equipment includes all audio equipment (digital mixers, wireless mics), video (projectors, switchers, video conferencing units, cameras, various sources), lighting (studio lighting, theatrical lighting) as well as staging, rigging etc. Virtual event services include streamed live and recorded events on a wide range of platforms as well as Hybrid events with simultaneous live and in person components.This in-person role is based at our Global headquarters at our Toronto York location as well as supports our Toronto Atria location. The Technician reports to the Senior Manager, AV Services (People Manager) and receives support and direction from our Broadcast Manager as well as Senior AV Technicians. The Technician works closely with members of the technician team, as well as the Producing, Multimedia and Operations teams in the delivery of our overall department initiatives.What will you do?Hands-on planning with our business partners to recommend appropriate virtual platforms, audio-visual and staging solutions, and the rehearsal and event delivery of these planned services to ensure the seamless execution of the event agendaTechnical operation of event platforms, broadcast and video equipment and integrations, multi-channel systems and video editingDemonstrate flexible, solution focused customer service skills to quickly adapt, resolve and trouble-shoot technical problems or late-breaking customer needsContribute to systems and complete tasks for event reporting, equipment and inventory resourcing to department standardsAdhere to company policies and industry best practices for the technical processes, pre, during and post-eventsCommitment to continuous improvement with the aim of making processes as efficient as possible, while delivering quality resultsWhat you need to succeed?You have 2+ years of technical experience in a corporate event environmentYou’re an accomplished event technician with honed skills and a track record of troubleshooting under pressure, knowledgeable with a wide range of media, platforms and venues, regularly working in close collaboration with event planning, and multimedia teamsYou’ve got experience leading partners, suppliers and teams to deliver high quality workYou regularly show initiative, as a self-starter you’re confident in your abilities and decision-making. You have an excellent track record in fast paced, deadline driven, high-volume and live production environmentsYou have an exceptional attention to detailYou have a passion for corporate event experiences, with your finger on the pulse of the latest trends and techniquesYou have knowledge of industry-related equipment, systems and terminology, and professional abilities.
