$91,702 - $104,753 + 10% BDCP + up to 15.4% SuperannuationBenalla - VIC, Brindabella Business Park - ACTThe RoleDo you want to work at the coalface of Defence’s Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) in a fast-growing setting?As an APS 6 Contract Manager within the Department of Defence’s GWEO Group you will be supporting the delivery of some of the most exciting and complex guided weapons and explosive ordnance products used by the Australian Defence Force. You will be part of a high performing team directly accountable for the delivery of priority capabilities for the GWEO Group.Under the broad direction of an executive leader you will be responsible for undertaking contract management activities in a complex Defence environment to ensure that contract requirements are met and Commonwealth legislative and policy requirements complied with.You will be required to:Perform daily contract management activities including, but not limited to:Monitoring contract performance and providing written and verbal assessments against strategic performance measures to ensure the contracted obligations are met;Reviewing deliverables against contracted requirements and, where required, providing feedback to the Contractor;Coordinate and participate in formal contract governance forums including the Facilities, Property and Contract Working Group, Contract Management Board and Contract Steering Committee;Management and negotiation of Contract Change Proposals, including the preparation and progression of associated Delegate approval documents;Coordinate the review and assessment of additional work proposals submitted via Business Cases or Survey and Quote tasking;Preparing contract correspondence on behalf of the Commonwealth Representative.You will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve sustainment capability outcomes, through both the implementation of effective contracting arrangements and the ongoing management of these arrangements.This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Dual citizens may be subject to further assessment and appointment to this position will be conditional upon approval to access US controlled export material in accordance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).About our TeamGuided Weapons & Explosive Ordnance Group consists of various disciplines (including engineering, project management, commercial, logistics, and corporate enabling services). We are located in Canberra, Penrith, Amberley, Benalla, Mulwala, Melbourne and Stirling, and our focus is to collaborate with domestic and international industry to deliver acquisition and sustainment of Australia’s explosive ordnance capability including:Delivery of new GWEO manufacturing projects;Establish the central management of the GWEO Test and Evaluation equipment fleet;The management and upgrade of munitions and explosives manufacturing factories at Mulwala (NSW) and Benalla (VIC);Oversight of foreign military sales (FMS) cases.The GWEO Group comprises of approximately 560 dedicated employees performing requirements setting; contracting; procurement; international logistics; domestic manufacturing; item management and maintenance, and co-ordination of disposal activities. You may have experience working in similar roles and/or fields such as tendering, developing proposals, managing contracts, administering financial accounts or project management.Our ideal candidate will have:Demonstrated experience in managing complex contract arrangement;Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated working knowledge of Commonwealth procurement legislation and policies;Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, in a proactive and collaborative manner;Demonstrated ability to show sound judgement and attention to detail when reviewing contract deliverables and new work proposals;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;A demonstrated ability to show initiative, take ownership and solve complex problems;Strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities;Ability to manage the work of self and others to meet key timeframes;Occasional interstate travel will be required (driver’s license advantageous).Defence Australia
