Registered Nurse - Introduction to Cardiology (formerly CCU Discovery Program)Experience an introduction to cardiac nursing at Western HealthParticipate in practical and theoretical trainingBe supported by our unit based specialist cardiac educatorsThe Cardiac Care Units (CCU) at Sunshine and Footscray are seeking Registered Nurses with outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills who would like to experience an introduction to cardiac nursing. Applicants are expected to show a keen interest in their ongoing professional development and a mastery of the nursing basics.About the RoleThe Introduction to Cardiology program is an entry level into cardiac nursing at Western Health. Participants join the highly skilled cardiac nursing team as they experience the specialty of cardiac nursing. The program is 12 months in duration and allows participants to develop new skills and knowledge via clinical and theoretical experiences.The Introduction to Cardiology program will start in September 2024, however applicants willing to commence in the role earlier are welcome to apply for immediate start.Participants will contribute to the management of patients with heart attacks, arrhythmias, acute heart failure and other cardiac conditions. Theoretical experiences includes participation in a series of specialty tailored education days and exposure to acute interventions such as cardiac stenting and insertion of pacemakers in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.Participants will develop rhythm recognition and ECG interpretation skills required to safely care for patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
