Location: Hobart TASSalary Range: $88,923 - $92,670 + Attractive SuperannuationContact Officer: Jonathan Alcantara (03) 6221 6712 CABRA.recruitment@dva.gov.auThe Claims Assessment Branch (CABRA) works within the Client Benefits Division to meet the needs of DVA's clients in relation to compensation claims under the Veterans Entitlement Act 1986 (VEA), Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 (MRCA), and the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Defence-related Claims) Act 1988 (DRCA).The DVA Education Schemes provide financial assistance, student support services, guidance and counselling for eligible children to help them achieve their full potential in education or career training. The Education Schemes team is responsible decision making and processing of claims for clients, in line with relevant legislation and policies. They also manage work associated with in-bound phone calls, emails and client engagement.The Education Schemes team also coordinates the Long Tan Bursary, which provides funding to help eligible children and grandchildren of Australian Vietnam veterans meet the cost of post secondary education and to help them obtain formal qualifications and skills needed to pursue their chosen career.Our ideal candidate is a team player who is able to work well in a fast-paced environment, can cope well with change and is resilient. They should have the ability to learn complex process, including an ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures. They should be committed to delivering positive outcomes for our clients, and performance focused to ensure accurate decisions are delivered in a timely manner.DutiesAssist with the administration of the Veterans' Children Education Scheme (VCES) and the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Education and Training Scheme (MRCAETS):Interpret and apply VCES and MRCAETS legislation and policy guidelines, exercising delegations appropriate to the APS5 levelApprove payment of Education Allowances and other assistance, including payment of accountsCase manage complex and sensitive assessmentsAssist with the identification, investigation and preparation of submissions for the recovery of payments made in excess of entitlementsProvide a high level of customer service and engage with students, their families and support networks regarding the Education SchemesAssist with the preparation of statistical information, estimates of expenditure and other reports as requiredContribute to continuous business improvement in a constructive and collaborative mannerParticipate in stakeholder engagement activities, as requiredContribute positively to organisational change and broader objectives.EligibilityUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.Mandatory RequirementsThe successful applicant will be subject to a Working with Children/Vulnerable people check as per state legislation.NotesThis recruitment process is being used to fill ongoing and/or non-ongoing position/s.
