We know the projects and services we work on today must deliver for South Australia’s future.The OpportunityThe Regulation Directorate is responsible for driving the Government’s regulation and policy initiatives and ensuring appropriate compliance, behaviour and safe access across our transport networks.The Vehicle Operations Section undertakes varying functions that contribute to this important work including vehicle inspections, vehicle engineering services and standards, delivery of the Vehicle Identity Assessment Station (VIDAS) and Accident Towing.We are seeking an experienced Supervisor of Vehicle Inspections to join our team. Reporting to the Unit Manager, Vehicle Inspections, you will be responsible for:Conducting and Overseeing Vehicle Inspections: Perform and supervise detailed inspections of various vehicles, including heavy and light vehicles and buses, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.Ensuring Compliance and Roadworthiness: Lead scheduled inspections, ensuring all vehicles meet legislated standards, Design Rules, accreditation requirements, and Codes of Practice.Providing Leadership and Training: Offer guidance, supervision, and support to senior vehicle inspectors, facilitating training and assisting with complex inspection issues.Offering Technical Expertise: Provide technical advice to other areas within DIT, SAPOL, other Government Agencies, and industry operators in the public and private sectors concerning both light and heavy vehicles.If you are a dedicated professional with expertise in vehicle regulations, commitment to customer service, and a focus on quality management and teamwork, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.RequirementsQualified light or heavy vehicle mechanic or any other professional mechanical qualification with appropriate vehicular experience.Special ConditionsPrior to employment with the Department, the successful candidate will be required to provide:A National Police Check (NPC) which is required to be renewed every three years.A Department for Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check (WWCC) which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.A current driver’s license for Class C is required.The location is at Kateena Street, Regency Park and you will be required to wear the Agency’s uniform that will be provided.Work outside normal hours and inter/intrastate travel necessitating overnight absences is required.RemunerationOPS5 - $80,877 to $86,461 per annumEnquiriesAlistair KingManager, Vehicle InspectionsTelephone: 0438 525 276Email: Alistair.King@sa.gov.auApplication InstructionsApplications can be submitted online by clicking the 'Apply' button.Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae and a cover letter of no more than two pages addressing the selection criteria in the attached role statement.Our CommitmentThe Department for Infrastructure and Transport is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture across the department, planning for and promoting diversity and culturally safe workplace.
