About this roleUtilise your data and analytics expertise to provide support and advice to the Evidence and Insights branchOngoing, Full-Time opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public ServiceVPS Grade 4: $92,332 - $104,762 plus superannuation.About Us:The Office of the Associate Secretary (Office) supports the Secretary to lead and manage the responsibilities and statutory requirements of the department. The Office leads key whole of department functions, including corporate functions, delivery of the department's data insights, analytics and modelling function, savings and organisational transformation, and overseeing the department's response to the Cultural Review of the adult custodial corrections system. It also provides oversight of the department's strategic and operational performance, with a focus on using data to inform system strategy, advice to Government and operational oversight.Evidence and Insights is tasked with supporting the Associate Secretary in leading the department's agenda in the delivery of justice and community safety services in Victoria by providing a strong evidence base for the development of effective policy and effective organisational management.About the Role:The Data Analyst will support regular data reporting, and the delivery of ad hoc data, analytics and performance outputs. The role will involve working as part of a team to provide a responsive data and analytics consultancy service, which will require effective liaison with a variety of stakeholders to understand and deliver on their data and information needs. Statistical analysis and the development of statistical and data reporting products in written and visual formats will also form key components of the role. This may include analysing standalone or linked datasets to deliver data tables, dashboards, research papers and other products to support policy development, evaluation and public reporting.Some of your duties will include:Contributing to the development and dissemination of data, research and analytics products using a variety of Victoria Police, DJCS and other available data sources.Independently developing and maintaining Evidence and Insights databases and the transformation of data into statistical products.Implementing innovative techniques to present and communicate data and statistics to the public and key stakeholders.To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.About You:As an ideal candidate, you will possess:Experience in statistical analysis (especially in the crime and justice or comparable subject matter areas).Experience in statistical data management and data processing systems.Experience in the development, implementation, maintenance and review of data standards and classifications.Experience in the interpretation, presentation and communication of quantitative data to a range of audiences, including through presentations, written reports and/or data visualisations.Demonstrated experience in the use of recognised computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Tableau, SQL, Power BI, Python and/or R to manage and analyse complex datasets.Qualifications:Qualifications including a significant component of data analytics or empirical, quantitative social science research techniques are highly desirable. These may include, for example, qualifications in criminology, psychology, statistical or mathematical methods, econometrics and/or data science.How to Apply:Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
