Collectively we make the impossible possible.Recognised for delivering projects of global and national significance that help keep Australia safe, it is our shared passion that shapes our culture, and our people that make it a great place to work.About the OPPORTUNITYWe have an exciting opportunity for a Sensors and Control Engineer to join our Maritime Sustainment Business based in Osborne, Adelaide, South Australia.Reporting to the DCE Waterfront Support Manager, this role is primarily responsible for providing Engineering support, guidance and coordination to resolve technical issues identified during Production of the DCE (Destroyer Capability Enhancement) Program.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and flexible work arrangements.Key responsibilities include (however not limited to):As a Control Systems SME within the Waterfront Production Engineering functional team, the Sensors & Control Engineer role will:Provide technical direction in the Control System domain, support and guidance to the DCE Program stakeholders as required to interpret technical documents, instructions and drawings for all DCE ExtMP MWL itemsWork within the DCE Waterfront Support team to provide timely triage, response/resolution and close out of DCE External Maintenance Period (ExtMP) PIRs and other Production related issue reportsSupport PIR reporting and the performance framework throughout DCE ExtMP ProductionSupport improvements of the Engineering Change process, to enable changes in Production Work Instructions to be captured and approved throughout ProductionAcquire DDGSPO AEO delegation within the Control System & Electrical Domain, to enable technical direction to be made at the Waterfront to support DCE Program Production activitiesSupport the development of a Production Guidelines/Thresholds document to enable Production to progress with tasks within a pre-approved boundary when minor deck plate problems are encounteredSupport Production Readiness Reviews as required in order to determine the DCE Enterprise's preparedness to enter the Production Phase or in introducing Engineering Change designs to the DCE Platform InstallerConduct and support Engineering Design Reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, DDR, CDR) in order to determine a design's maturity for incorporation into the DDG PlatformDevelop and drive continuous improvement within the DCE Waterfront Production Support team to enhance Production, Engineering and DDGSPO processes via process improvement proposals/suggestionsAbout YOUBachelor's Degree in Mechatronic, Electrical, or Electronic engineering or technology degree qualified, satisfying the requirements for membership of the institute of Engineers Australia.Meets requirements for registration as Chartered Engineer and preferably be a member of a professional body.Experience in developing electrical equipment & control systems designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of electrical/ electronic solutions, its integration, validation and qualification testingAs applicable, extensive experience in an engineering operation in support of systems and equipment, including experience in configuration management methods, logistics engineering products, technical report writing and data managementExperience in design analysis techniques, development tools in areas such as power generation, power distribution, design documentation, circuit protection, earthing systems, maritime electrical design practices, control and monitoring systems, electrical industry standards, lighting systems, electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) solutions and complianceAbility to train and mentor more junior engineers through good team-building skillsProven ability to function confidently within a project team and broader business environmentAble to form & facilitate problem solving teams in order to achieve engineering systems and processes outcomesEligible to obtain and maintain relevant Defence ClearancesWe believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
