POSITION: Executive DirectorJOB TYPE: Full TimeLOCATION: Grande Prairie, AlbertaJOB SUMMARY:The Agency is assisting The Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association in the recruitment of a passionate, dynamic team leader and business manager to serve as their Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in capturing the pride, natural beauty, diverse history, and innovative spirit of the Grande Prairie region, and establishing it as a premier tourism destination.The ideal candidate will be an experienced, organized leader with a proven track record of developing strong relationships with key stakeholders. This includes fostering close partnerships with Travel Alberta, municipal councils, and individual tourism operators. The successful applicant will become a trusted ambassador for the Grande Prairie region, serving as the visible voice for the local tourism industry.RESPONSIBILITIES:Providing strategic leadership and direction for the GPRTA, aligning the organization's goals and initiatives with the needs of the regionKnowledge of the region’s tourism goals and a strong understanding the region, or a proven ability to assess and learn community strengthsProactively researches and stays up-to-date on the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities within the regional tourism landscapeBuilding and maintaining collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, Indigenous and Multicultural communities, and community groupsOverseeing the day-to-day business operations of the GPRTA, ensuring efficient management of budgets, grants, and grant distributionDeveloping and implementing innovative marketing and promotional strategies to raise the profile of Grande Prairie and area as a premier tourism destinationAdvocating on behalf of the local tourism industry, amplifying the voice of operators and championing their interestsFostering a positive, inclusive organizational culture that empowers the GPRTA teamREQUIREMENTS:Post secondary degree related to a subject such as Commerce, Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism, or Marketing, or at least 3-5 years equivalent business experienceValid Class 5 driver's license issued by the Province of Alberta with clean abstractWillingness and ability to undertake extended travel within the local Grande Prairie region and surrounding areas as part of regular job dutiesAvailability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends * Self-directed leader with strong interpersonal skills and ability to be an effective collaborator and innovatorProven managerial skills in recruitment, training, and development of staff by providing both positive and constructive feedback in a team environmentProven experience in budget preparation and administrationExperience with volunteer Board Governance and Government relations * Proven ability in developing, implementing, and leading significant marketing plansBENEFITS:Competitive SalaryExtended Health BenefitsLife InsuranceOpportunity to work with a great organization representing our thriving, recreationally abundant, beautiful regionJOB POSTING INFORMATION:Submit your resume and cover letter to The Agency at .
