As a Junior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be working hands-on with Citi’s Application teams as part of our journey to adopt SRE practices and principles. You will build on your existing engineering skills and learn new concepts and tools to grow as a Site Reliability Engineer. This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and soft skills, as well as the ability to develop an understanding of the different business functions within ICG.

About the Team: ICG Production Management

Our Production Management team provides critical business and technical support to the Institutional Client Group (ICG); working collaboratively to ensure that our platforms and services operate for our clients, whenever they need them. We act as highly skilled and valued partners to our businesses.

Working as part of our Production Management team, you will help deliver a world class client service and experience, by applying engineering, innovation, learning and risk management across our systems and user environments. We interact with a diverse range of people each day, collaborating to solve problems as well as to anticipate and remove them before they occur. At Citi we look to raise the bar of operational excellence by using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to implement continuous improvement across key areas like latency, availability, performance, and capacity. Responsibilities:

Citi SREs run the services for our users and are ultimately responsible for the heath of these services.

You will be:

  • Providing technical and business support for users of Citi applications.
  • Building out observability stacks for the applications.
  • Suggesting and implementing service improvements.
  • Working with the Site Reliability Engineering team to come up with effective ways of working.
  • Championing stability initiatives to enable application high availability for Business-As-Usual which includes better monitoring, failover and resiliency.
  • Handling incidents, problems and change, and be calm and analytical when faced with major incidents on critical systems.
  • Participating in disaster recovery testing.
  • Developing and maintaining technical support documentation.
  • Managing customer satisfaction requirements of operational procedures to achieve a suitable outcome for all stakeholders.
  • Building your communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information with inherent confidence with operations and technology partners on a regional or global basis.
  • Performing other duties and functions as assigned.
  • Appropriately assessing risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge or interest about apps support procedures, concepts and of other technical areas.
  • Participation in some process improvements.
  • Previous experience or interest in standardisation of procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge/ experience of problem Management Tools.
  • Evaluates (sometimes complex) situations using multiple sources of information Developed communication and diplomacy skills to persuade and influence.
  • Good customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good all-round team member.
  • Ability to effectively share information with other support team members and with other technology teams.
  • Ability to plan and organise workload.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately to relevant stakeholders.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
